1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money, many flaws

5.0 out of 5 stars We love this travel system!, July 25, 2010
This review is from: Chicco Cortina KeyFit 30 Travel System - Midori (Baby Product)
We have been so happy with our Chicco Cortina travel system! Everything about it is practically perfect. My favorite features include:
- 4 cup holders & a small item case, plus a basket underneath for more storage
- easy to remove car seat cover & pads to wash
- I can remove it from my trunk & unfold it all with one hand
- canopy rotates down to cover my baby's face when facing the sunlight
- adjustable handle bar
- the carseat base is SO nice & easy to use
- the color schemes & fabric are very stylish, easy to clean, and durable
- carseat snaps in SO easily to both the stroller & the base, it's very easy to use
- unlike other strollers we've both used & tested, none of the adjusting mechanisms have EVER jammed or given us trouble. After over a year of frequent use, it still functions like new

We just recently stopped using this system since our daughter has outgrown it, but we have another baby on the way and the stroller & travel system is still in great condition & has worn well - we'll be using it again!

I highly recommend this product, it's worth the extra price. We tested out ALL of the strollers we could find, and this one both rides & folds/unfolds better than them ALL. This travel system literally screams "GOOD DESIGN!" and honestly, as a parent with a million baby products, that is very rare. The Chicco Cortina is a winner in my book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Car Seat, Stroller is Okay, June 18, 2011
This review is from: Chicco Cortina KeyFit 30 Travel System - Midori (Baby Product)
We got this travel system in Modori. I love the color, it's a lime green color, it's not quite as bright as the picture. I like that it's a nice gender neutral color, we've had several compliments on it.

As far as the product itself. The car seat is wonderful, it snaps very easily in and out of the base. We have also used it without the base when we travel and it was great. The straps adjust from the front with is very nice (I've seen some that adjust in the back and that is a real pain with a rear facing car seat). It's nice that the infant inserts are separate. I took the body one out but still left the head piece in for several more months (I believe Graco's is all one piece and doesn't give you that option). We've also had to take it apart to clean it after my son got a stomach virus. It's very well engineered, stays together well but isn't too difficult to take apart if you need to.

The stroller is alright. It's rather big and bulky. It maneuvers pretty well and is comfortable for the baby, I use it to walk around the neighborhood, however on a day to day basis you're better off the get a Snap and Go. It's much lighter and folds down much smaller so it doesn't take up as much trunk space.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this!! Such a great system!, August 25, 2010
This review is from: Chicco Cortina KeyFit 30 Travel System - Midori (Baby Product)
This is an awesome Travel System!! I got it in the new color, Midori, and the green just pops! it has so many great features and is super light and easy to use compared to other travel systems. The stroller is easy to fold/unfold with one hand (and maybe a hip thrown in here and there), it is far from clunky or over sized. I get compliments all the time about it and it is super easy to get around with, my friend who also has one has taken it camping and it does great!

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE CHICCO BRAND!, October 21, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Chicco Cortina KeyFit 30 Travel System - Midori (Baby Product)
I have had this for 6 months now (today!) My son is 16lbs and he still has lots of room to grow. The stroller is a but bulky, but nothing unmanageable. I know for sure I am going to be using the infant seat for another 6 months, and wish Chicco had convertible car seats. I have the matching highchair and pack n play, and they're very reliable, and I use them everyday. I do recommend this item, and I am coming back for more for my next child.

5.0 out of 5 stars The absolute best travel system!!, February 17, 2011
This review is from: Chicco Cortina KeyFit 30 Travel System - Midori (Baby Product)
In a nutshell, this is the best of the best for me. All the features are listed on the other reviews so no need to repeat. I love that it is so simple and everything is just a CLICK and a SNAP away from working appropriately. The only con is that it is a little heavy and the shade on the car seat is a bit short, doesn't extend as far as I would like it but given everything else ... who cares. Stop looking around and GO FOR Chicco!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love It the Second Time Around Too!, April 13, 2012
This review is from: Chicco Cortina KeyFit 30 Travel System - Midori (Baby Product)
I love this system...it's perfect, and is doing very well on our second child too. The carseat is very heavy, it's definitely not like some of the others I've seen that people carry around like a purse. While sometimes that "feels" like a drawback, we actually bought it because it just felt really solid and safer. Also, the carseat does not fit on the edge of shopping carts in the baby seat area...it was very inconvenient at first to always put the baby right inside the shopping cart instad of on the seat part...until...I saw a baby in her carseat tumble right off that seat area into a parking lot, and then decided we don't need to put the carseat in that position anyway! Our stroller has been through it all, rough terrain, snowy parking lots, mud...and it holds up really well. It is not built to be like a jogging stroller, but it is very, very convenient to have a system that just works so well...we just click the carseat in and go! Cupholders, small basket for keys and wipies, a larger basket underneath that we just stuff everything in....handles that are the perfect size to fit a diaper bag strap over. We switched to a very lightweight maclaren umbrella stroller when our daughter turned 2, and that was nice, but I have to say this system rocks for convenience when you're still carrying a diaper bag and a million other things!

I love our chicco travel system. The only place I was able to find this bright green color was on amazon. Other chicco mom's always ask where we found this! I say AMAZON!
Easy to use and not as heavy as I thought it would be. I love that it stands on it's own when closed. My baby is super comfy in this. Buy it!

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money, many flaws, November 14, 2011
This review is from: Chicco Cortina KeyFit 30 Travel System - Midori (Baby Product)
My wife and I have used this system in two cars for a little over a month. The two cars are a 08 MDX and a 2011 Subaru Forester. Both have a ton of room in the back.

First, the system itself is built well. Installation is also a breeze. However, that's the only pros. Overall, this system is not worth the inflated price compared to other models such as Graco. First, it is too chunky and big. Even with two SUV's, the front passenger seat must be moved far forward in both cars. Placing in the middle isn't any better. That's because the base and car seat are both too long. Put into perspective, I saw someone have a Graco combo in my same MDX without having any problems. Heaven forbid you try putting this in a car like a civic, the passenger would have to sit on the dashboard.

Next up, it doesn't fit in grocery cart fronts like most carriers do. Believe me, when you go grocery shopping, and you're by yourself, you'll want this function. Every other car seat all in one combo i've seen allows for it to slide into the grocery cart seated section. Some even have clasping that makes it more secure. The Chicco, doesn't fit at all, would not be safe or recommended. That means, either you put it in the grocery section of the cart, therefore, not allowing for any room for groceries, or you somehow magically try to push a cart and a stroller? Not going to happen. This is POOR design, made all the more frustrating while I scoot around the grocery store seeing other people effortlessly do this with other brands.

The storage underneath is poor. It doesn't have enough room for a diaper bag with the carrier installed. I have seen other strollers with more room and the parents just put their diaper bag underneath. Our diaper bag is also not large by any means. There is simply not a lot of room underneath. We have worked around this by putting a diaper bag hook on the handle, but this makes the whole system feel unstable, like it could tilt backwards.

The carseat handle does not fit easily over the carseat sunshade cover. You literally have to wrestle with it to get it over and clicked into place. HORRIBLE design. What were they thinking here?

Overall, I must say this product gets my worst review ever. I honestly have the worst case of buyer's remorse. The only reason we purchased this was because it was the trendy pick, the version all the wives wanted. However, there are much better choices out there. Go with Graco or Safety First, or any other brand, don't buy Chicco just because of the trendy namebrand or because it is priced slightly higher, you have to assume it works better. It is overpriced, way too bulky, and doesn't work. I would have given two stars, but it was the most expensive in it's range without going onto the super expensive sets like Perego, etc.

5.0 out of 5 stars LATCH can only be used in standard 11 inch positions, February 10, 2011
This review is from: Chicco Cortina KeyFit 30 Travel System - Midori (Baby Product)
We just installed the seat with base last night (with a certified police child restraint installer) and were unsure if the base could be used with our LATCH anchors in the center seat position (2004 Ford Focus). The car owner's manual states that you can use LATCH in center position if, and only if:
1. the LATCH connections are a non-rigid type (this base's connections are non-rigid, so check)
2. the Child Restraint can be installed on LATCH anchors that are 450 mm (18 inches) apart.
From Page 106 of
"2004 Focus (foc)
Owners Guide (post-2002-fmt)
USA English (fus)"
"A child seat with rigid LATCH attachments cannot be installed at the center rear seat. A child seat with LATCH attachments on belt webbing can be used at the center rear seat unless a child seat at an outboard rear seat is attached to one of these lower anchors. Install a child seat onto the lower anchors at the center rear seat ONLY IF the child restraint manufacturer recommends that the child seat can be installed to anchors that are spaced up to 450 mm apart."

The Chicco manual did not state it, but I wanted to know for sure what our options are. We installed with the seat belt last night, to be on the safe side. I wrote to Chicco and then called and talk to a rep. The rep was very nice and knew the answer right away: only standard, 11 inch apart, LATCH anchors can be used with this base.

This does not take away from the seat at all, in my opinion, but I wanted to get this information out there to make sure that others who install this seat in a car with a similar set up will know. We had installed using LATCH in center position at first and it seemed to be a perfect fit, even the certified installer thought so, but because of the 450 mm caveat, I wanted to be sure, and so did the police officer.
