Great for tall babies!,

Before you buy, test out any walker on your baby:
I have a tall baby who has been mistaken for a one year old since he was 4 months old. When he was 5 months, my husband, my baby and I went shopping for a walker. Initially, we planned on buying the Combi walker that resembles a car. Although it was nice looking, it only had 2 height settings and even the highest setting could not accomodate my son who's knees were bent as he strolled around the store aisle. Since the store did not have any other walkers that were sturdy, we went home discouraged. I decided to search the internet for other brands that we didn't consider and someone recommended this one. Not only did people & their babies love it, but it was [...] cheaper than the car. Why I love it: 1. Height settings: It has 3 of them and the lowest is the height of the tallest on the Combi. The middle setting is perfect for him and it makes us feel good to know that there is still a higher setting left. 2. Sturdy: It's really well put together all around. My son bumps into the furniture all of the time and the walker never tilts. He also tries to reach for things, sometimes stretching toward the floor and the walker does not budge. It also has brake pads below it which is an added safety feature. The plastic that is made out of is very good quality unlike a wobbly Jeep walker that we saw in the store constructed out of cheap and thin plastic. 3. The tray play center: It has 3 settings of music, animal sounds, and a combination of the two and he loves to play with it. In fact, I love to play with it. Lots of lights, music, drum beats, animal noises. It's really easy to install it (one quick snap) and very easy to remove (not easy for baby to remove) so your baby can use it when he's out of the walker or after he grows out of it. My only concern after looking at this website is the color of it - mine is light green and yellow and the one pictured here is multicolored. Color really doesn't matter to me but if it matters to you, you may want to look into it further. 4. The walker easily flattens with the pull of a lever and press of a button for easy transport or for storage. 5. Baby loves it! What I don't like so much (which is why I took off a star): 1. Adjusting the height setting can be tricky. There is also no indicator that tells you which setting you are on so it may take several tries before you figure out which setting it's on. I usually eye it. 2. Although it flattens easily for transport, there is no lock to keep it that way so even though it's flat, it opens right back up as you carry it. 3. Putting the fabric on the seat when you put it together for the first time can be painful to your fingers. But once it's done, it's done! (Hopefully it will never get dirty). I highly recommend this walker.

Happy Baby = Happy Mommy,

My baby absolutely loves this walker! He insisted on being held all the time until his walker arrived. Now I am able to put him in his walker long enough to make dinner. We both love our moments of freedom. We bought the walker when he was 4 months old, but didn't really think that he would be ready for it - we were wrong. We put him in it and moments later he was chasing the cat and following his older siblings around.
The walker has the best construction of any walker I have seen - by a long shot. The base is wide enough that my 4-year-old twins have been able to play with their brother without tipping the walker, and anyone with a four-year-old knows how rough they can be on toys and baby gear. The musical toy is also great. My baby is six months old now and loves to push the buttons. The sounds aren't annoying and high-pitched like some electronic toys, and he likes the animal sounds it makes (especially the kitty meow). He also likes it when we remove the toy and place other toys on the tray. When he is ready, I also imagine that the tray will be great for cheerios and other snacks. My cat would probably give this walker zero stars, but I would give it 10 if I could!

I ordered this for my daughter on Feb 8 and it arrived at our door step on Feb 11th. We were so excited that we put it together right away and put her in it...immediately she figured out that putting her hands on the buttons made sounds and she loved it. Her eyes were filled with wonder as she inquisitively explored the various toys. Everytime we put her in it she'll spend the first 5 mins playing with the toys. Once she's had enough of it then will she look up and look for us & tries to move around. Because she is only 3.5 months old & her feet don't quite touch the floor completely even at the lowest setting so we padded the adjustable component with rolled up cardboard so that the walker sits lower to the floor just a bit more for her feet to reach. (We put a good amount of weight to the test to make sure the card board would not give into the weight since we would not want the walker to all of a sudden fold down while she's in it...we eventually replaced the cardboard with a paint stick) We've probably put her in it a hand full of times, and yesterday she actually walked in it!! We couldn't believe that a 3.5 months old was roaming the house in this walker. We have hardwood floor on the whole first floor so she'd slide around very easily, we'd have to rescue her whenever she runs into the corner of the wall and puts herself in timeout though. But even when that happens she just plays with the toys when she's stuck. She loves this and we'd highly recommend it. 6/18/08 Update: she is now 7 months and is already trying to walk. She climbs everything in sight and grabs hold and stands...I can't help but think if she is so advanced for her age because we started her off in this walker very early on and therefore she had a full grasp of the concept of walking and moving around. Needless to say from 3.5-7 months, she enjoyed the walker immensely, and it gave both her and I so~ much freedom. She would fly around the house estatic, and mastered reversing and turning quickly. Now at 7 months and standing, she is not as interested in sitting in this walker so I'm on a search for something that will continue to give her the independence to explore and learn with little or no help from me...maybe the "walking wings" next?!?

This is a very cute walker, but in the picture from amazon it looks like the tray has sort of a red-orange color on it, but in reality it is HOT PINK! You can see it in the customer photos which unfortuantely I did not look at before purchasing it. One review says it is color neutral and not as saturated as the picture but that is wrong. If you have a baby boy get the blue one. This walker is very bright and colorful but girly.

I love everything about this walker,i bought chicco because my first 2 kids had one and it was great, the toy tray isn't in babys face like some walkers ect......that being said the rear wheels are fixed so baby can't walk sideways, which is the direction they learn first, then backwards also a problem stearing it...it only goes forward well.plus the 'red' on the walker is hot pink.Still really durable walker
Recomended age 6-11 months not for walking babies or babies that can't sit propped up or have good head control!

The walker is wonderful! Our granddaughter, Emma, loves it! In fact, her parents have commented that this is the BMW, Cadillac, and Mercedes of the baby walkers! Emma whines and cries while in the Pooh walker at her home but when she's at grandma's house, she spots the Chicco walker and her eyes gleam and she's excited to sit and play. Her parents say that she likes grandma's Chicco walker better than the one they have. I must agree. The music is pleasant to everyone. Emma moves the ball around; she hits the keys and she is only 5 1/2 months old. I didn't expect this. I only keep her in it for 30 minutes max. Then it's holding time or tummy time. Then it's back to the walker for a little more time. The walker is very sturdy, easy to assemble but the directions did not mention the purpose of a strap that is included. I called customer service and was told that it is for mounting the detachable musical insert onto a crib or a stroller. Also, love the fact that it collapses for easy storage. The company that sent it had extremely fast shipping and that is saying something since this was purchased during holiday shipping and it was free shipping. Great purchase!

The BEST walker!,
This review is from: Chicco DJ Baby Walker, Sea Dreams (Baby Product)
Let me start by saying that this was a great gift from grandpa for our son. I spent months looking for the perfect walker, or rather, something that my son could actually fit into. (Every other walker I put him into, even on the lowest height setting, his little feet would still dangle.) This one is the perfect height for shorter babies, however, still accommodates much taller babies. We started putting my son in this walker when he was about 7 months or so. Well he is 14 months now, and I don't know if he is still supposed to use it, but he still loves it, and fits in it wonderfully. The toy tray can be removed and, thank goodness, does NOT have any obnoxious sounds/music. Even so, it has a volume control switch on it, which does come in handy. Everything about it is actually quite pleasant. It comes with bumper attachments as well, but we have never used them because we don't have hard wood floors or staircases. And just a side note - if you have carpet, you may want to leave the bumper attachments off. With them on, it is nearly impossible for the walker to move back and forth, as the rubber grips the carpet too much.
Speaking of which, that is another thing that was very important to me when considering a walker to purchase - whether or not it rolled well on carpet. Well, this one works great on carpet, and a little too well on bare floor - my little speedster loves to get a running start and crash into things. Even so, the walker has never once caused any damage to anything. And there has never been any cause for concern in regards to it possibly tipping over. Don't get me wrong - we always keep an eye on our little one. But the walker has never once even come close to tipping over. Over all, I love this walker. It folds and stores easily, and it's very durable. It is very pleasant to look at and listen to - heck, I have even played with the toys on the toy tray every now and again - that is how interesting it is. Also, very easy to clean. A quick wipe of the sponge, and if the cloth seat gets too dirty, just detach and throw it in the washer, and it is as good as new. This walker always comes with us when we stay at grandma and grandpa's house. Truly a wonderful purchase that will not disappoint!

Lightweight, attractive and functional. We bought this for our grandson to use when he comes to visit. At eight months, he isn't walking yet, but enjoys sitting in the walker and playing with the tray's buttons and knobs. Plays music, animal sounds and tones. Does not roll well on our thick carpet, but what can you expect? Would be much more practical on a hard surface.

Horrible Customer Support,
By
This review is from: DJ Baby Walker (Baby Product)
We have had horrible experiences dealing with Chicco's customer service department. We were simply missing one of the accoutrement pieces to our item. First they emailed back and said that they were out and couldn't help, then they emailed and asked for pictures, verifying documents, and serial numbers / control numbers. Two months after beginning our conversations with them we are still no closer to getting anything than when we started.
I think Chicco is all about selling you something without support, which is much different than our experience with other manufacturers of baby products. We think it is important that the company that sells us something keeps their promises and supports parents the best that they can to make sure that their children are safe and comfortable. Chicco is not a company that lives up to that standard. |
