It has the highest weight range for infants, from 4 to 30 pounds, letting you get the most out of the seat. It features an innovative Latch management system, with easy belt routing and a spring loaded leveling foot to make this infant car seat the easiest car seat to install. The "one-pull", centrally located tightening strap has made tightening the Latch attachment simple. Wide belt routing loops with a built-in belt locking system means no more locking clips. Leveling the seat is easy with a spring-loaded leveling foot and easy to read bubble, level guides on both sides of the base. The underside of base is enclosed to prevent damage to vehicle seats. The 5-point harness has an easy one-pull tightening and loosening for a quick and accurate harness fit. The thickly-padded infant insert gives extra support for a smaller baby around the head, neck, back and bottom. The carrier shell is lined with energy absorbing foam for improved impact protection. A retractable canopy with pop-up visor gives added shade conforms to FMVSS 213. The KeyFit 30 easily transfers from car to stroller in seconds and is compatible with the Chicco C1, Cortina, Trevi and S3 strollers.

I had the original KeyFit infant seat for my daughter and we were just in a crash 4 days ago. It was 40mph head on crash and my airbag deployed. My baby was perfectly safe in her KeyFit and I am so thankful to Chicco for making a superb car seat. I replaced it with the new KeyFit 30 and couldn't be more thrilled. If there is one good thing that came out of the accident, it's that I got the new KeyFit30. All the great features of the original and now rated to 30 lbs! After being in the accident, I definitely want to keep my daughter rear-facing as long as possible.Chicco also addressed what was the only complaint I had on the original seat - the canopy didn't stay open and wasn't big enough. Now it stays open like it should and they added the extra visor part. Perfect! The only downside to the new KeyFit 30 is the color choices - I liked my grey and green original colors better, but you can't complain when everything else about this seat is perfect. The fabric is super easy to keep clean and I have not had a problem with my baby sweating in it like some other reviews have stated (and we do get hot summers, but I do also have A/C in my car). The ease of installing the seat and of getting baby in and out is great. I will say that in some cars the LATCH attachment isn't the best fit, and it's better just to install the base with the seatbelt (the case w/my Toyota Matrix). Really there are no faults with this seat and I am so thrilled that it now can hold my daughter until 30 lbs (which will be quite a while as she is on the small side)! Absolutely my highest recommendation on this car seat!

We were in a car accident and had to replace our Graco SafeSeat. We decided to go with this seat because of the promised ease of installation. Our SafeSeat took quite a while to install and never really seemed secure. This seat was so easy! I installed it in less than five minutes and it is very secure. You just snap the LATCH connecters (which are cleverly designed and easy to use) onto the hooks in your car and then pull a single strap coming out of the middle of the base.The seat itself seems sturdy and comfortable. My 15 month-old has been asleep in it for over an hour this morning. She hadn't slept that long in her Graco seat since she was around 6 months old. We love this seat!

KeyFit-30 Seatpad Poor Quality,

Purchased a KeyFit-30 in Atmosphere for my son on 07/28/08 and used it for about one-week...The seat emits strong foam/fabric fumes for the first week. Outside of short vehicle trips, the seat stays in the patio so the odor can be "aired-out". Interested in finding the source of the fumes, I remove the canopy & seatpad from the seat core. To my surprise, there is ~4-inch tear with exposed holofil on the reverse-side of the seatpad (near the baby's "bottom"). Emailed Chicco customer service two-weeks ago... No signs of the replacement seatpad yet. The Chicco KeyFit-30 is simple to install in the SUV. The lock & unlock of the seat from its base is positive and natural (ergonomic-wise). The seat straps are easy-to-use (once you read the instructions & practice a few times). The seat works well with the BumbleRide Indie. These are attributes to the seat's excellent engineering. The smelly foam & easily-ripped fabric denotes poor quality control & inadequate quality assurance at the manufacture locale (China).
