Chicco Lullaby LX Playard Romantic

We bought this playard because after looking at the different ones in stores this was the only one that had the diaper changing table supported on all four corners instead of just two corners. We expected and got a big baby and two and a half months and fifteen pounds later we still use it for practically every diaper change. The playard itself is incredibly stable so we feel really safe putting our baby in it. The only downside is that it is kind of bulky and heavy so it is not as portable as some of the other models out there, but we just figure that is the trade off for the kind of stablility the Chicco offers and wouldn't buy a different one if we could go back and do it over.

I bought this item to have in our room to use when our son was born. I absolutely love it. It actually fits a small sleep bed in it to prevent my son from rolling around and the highest setting is high enough so you are not hurting you back placing your child in it. It is also easy to assemble and take with you when you travel. I can not wait to use it for a duration of time and I know it will be worth the cost.

It looks challenging when you open the box and see all the parts you have to put together... but it's actually so easy and well designed that you'll love it.
Details make a lot of sense targeting practical every day issues on handling a baby.
We'll start using it in a few months, so I'll get back here and post what it was like.

I first purchased the Graco lively dots pack n play for my newborn daughter. My intent was to use it as a basinett for the first few months in our bedroom. After I set it up and put a sheet on it, I noticed that the basinett mattress would not lay flat. I tried various different sheets, but even without anything on it I still couldn't get it to lay flat. We went to babies r us and pulled all of the playards from the shelf to compare. NONE of the Graco mattresses would lay flat. Chicco was the only one. The mattress on the Chicco also seemed a lot more sturdy and it has a removeable cover which the Graco did not have. Yes it's pricy, but worth the piece of mind. With all of the scary information out there about SIDS why would you take the risk. The changing table is also very sturdy and best of all you can flip it to the side so it's out of the way. I know a lot of reviews mentioned its lack of portability, however we have yet to move it from the bedroom so I can't comment on that. I also didn't attach the mobile. My daughter is only 3 weeks old, so maybe I will put it on once she can see a little better. Even though my Graco was much much cheaper, in this case I think you get what you pay for.

I also bought the stroller, car seat and Highchair that match with this playard...I like the colors because they are very neutral and I also like the quality of the construction. I will recomend this product!!! They are also very easy for handling and storage...

I registered for and received this play yard, and when my baby was about a month old I went out and bought the graco one. This one has done nothing for the past few months in my house except collect dust. Here's a list of pros and cons:

Pros:
- The black & grey is a sleek, modern look - considering this is going to be a piece of furniture in your living space, it's nice that it's simple, clean look. However, the skirt/dustruffle along the bottom does not present as neatly as it does in the product photo (see cons below).
- You can wheel it around while it's fully packed up (with the Graco one, the wheels pack into the cover so you can't roll it once you're all zipped up).
- The vibrating unit has a neat light that captures the baby's attention, may be soothing to some.
- The arches with the animals hanging off is a good idea and the whole mat can be removed and put onto the floor if you prefer to play with it there.

Cons:
- HEAVY, bulky.
- VERY stubborn to fold up. I wrestled with this thing for a good half hour the first time I put it away, despite having followed the directions closely.
- When the mat is installed to the high position for newborns, there are hook & eye loops that secure it to the sides. They are SO difficult to fasten, my father-in-law and I had to take turns trying!
- When the arches with the animals are up, it's very difficult to put a sheet on the mat - the arches fasten under 4 corners of the mat and it directly interferes with a fitted sheet.
- The loops that hold the animals on are very poorly designed - like a cheap afterthought. The animals slip off very easily.
- When the arches are up it's very awkward to try to take the baby in and out.
- The changing station is not comfortable. It's just this plasticky material that isn't suited to any sort of fabric sheet or cover that you can buy to put over it. I never used the changing station.
- The dust ruffle along the bottom is all wrinkled when you take it out of the box and I could not figure out how to flatten it out. I wonder how you'd take an iron to that! I had the thing open in my living room for 5 months and the wrinkles never smoothed out.

My baby was born April 8th and it is only May 12 and the vibrating feature on it has failed and is no longer working. Realllly???? Only a month?! Other than that the crib is good, but I was very dissapointed since my little one liked the relaxing vibrations when she was put down to sleep. Thinking of returning it.

We love this playard. I has everything. We have had it for 6 months now and everything is still great with it. We take it with us to grandma's and when home leave it up in our family room for a second place to change her or let her rest.

I will see for sure if the product is really what we wanted in October at the Baby Roo's shower. The baby is due Jan 2011.
