I have had my stroller for about 3 months. I only use it occassionally. In the few times that I have used it, the stroller has collapsed with the baby in it at least 3 times. It happened two times this week alone. I am writing this to warn others. I will not be using this anymore. There are two locking bars on this stroller, but it is so flimsy that it pops up on...

We owned a full sized stroller, but purchased the Caddy for our vacation. I couldn't be MORE pleased with this stroller for many reasons. ***Super light weight design makes airplane travel easy.* ***Very easy to maneuver...even can steer fairly easy with one hand.* ***Carrying shoulder strap comes with it so you can throw it over your shoulder. We found this handy at the airport.* ***Sun shade has a small adjustable lip on the end which didn't really do much, but the sun shade itself was sufficent for our beach trip.* ***Has a HARNESS OVER THE SHOULDERS AND WAIST...very important for us with a wiggly 10 month old. I never worry about him falling out.* ***Extremely easy to clean. Our son has an easy gag reflex, so he throws up often (nice!). This stroller has been in the shower many times for a good washing & looks brand new. We did have to oil the wheels as they began to squeek with water exposure, but I would expect this to happen with any metal exposed to water.* ***Two position recline is nice. The upright position is nice so my son can see...he hates his regular stroller because it won't sit upright very much & he has to hold himself up. We use the Caddy for this reason almost daily now! The recline position is only a few inches reclined, but my son was able to take daily naps at the pool on vacation in the recline position & seemed very comfortable.* ***Under stroller storage basket is available. It's small, but you can leave it on when you fold up the stroller & it's large enough to hold a small diaper bag, or a few shopping items...we used it regularly for those extra things that needed to be carried.**** Only complaint... I'm 5'2" and find the handle length to be just right. My mom is 5'5" and has trouble with kicking the wheels as she pushed the stroller...she thought the handles were too short/low. My husband is 6'0" and said it was OK for him...he just kept his arms straight and he didn't have a problem. Not a big complaint, but if you're tall, you will have to adjust how you push the stroller. I would ABSOLUTELY choose this stroller over any umbrella stroller around. It's sturdy, mid-priced, attractive, comfortable for my baby, and most important, I feel it's very safe. Good luck!

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Stroller for Urban Life, April 28, 2005
This review is from: Chicco Red Caddy Stroller - 61099.70. (Baby Product)
I have been usinsg this stroller for almost a year. I use it every single day to go to school, for which I have to take the subway and I have few complaints.

PROS:

- My son is now 3 years old and he still fits very well and sleeps comfortably in recline position.

- The structure is very sturdy and stable and the wheels steer very well.

- Has great traction! runs well on light snowy/icy pavement and bumpy irregular surfaces.

- Light enough to carry up stairways.

- Great to take along on plane trips! I've taken this stroller to Florida, New Jersey, Pennsilvannia and the Caribbean!

CONS

- Locking latch and carry strap break easily. I can easily close it but I cannot carry it on my back.

- Sun canopy is tiny and doesn't stay in place. When pulled back, shade will slip out.

- Uncomfortable for tall parents (Hubby is 6'2") and he can't stand the backache!(OK for me 5'5")

- Raincover is very convenient but won't las long. Mine is ripped after about 5 months.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy, Portable, Safe and Shaded - just perfect for vacation!, May 25, 2007

We purchased 2 of these strollers for our vacation and the Prince Lionheart connectors so that one of us could push both together - or we could go our separate ways at times.

We are thrilled with these strollers. They popped up and down quickly, they are lightweight, our 2 yr old and 5 yr old fit fine in them and they both slept while being pushed through Disney World. The 5 yr old is 40 inches tall and about 32 lbs. and I think her height is about the tallest a child could be comfortable in this stroller. Her head was almost touching the canopy but she never complained.

The canopy is a great asset by allowing us to pull it out a little, bend it down in different spots - or even bend it back and up. There is also a square zippered pouch hanging down in the back from the canopy which was perfect for tissues, cell phones and camera. The basket underneath is shallow but perfect for a Ziploc bag with 4 diapers and wipes.

We also purchased the Jolly Jumper stroller caddy for each to hold their juice cups and bottles of water. They fit perfectly and worked like a charm. Pushing both kids was easy even our ten yr old was taking turns. And when the two strollers were connected as long as you push the heavier child and locked the front wheels, it was great.

This stroller is so much more durable, sturdy and safe than a regular umbrella stroller. We are really pleased with this purchase and have realized it made our vacation so much more enjoyable because they are so portable in and out of shuttle buses and train rides.

There are two locking bars on this stroller, but it is so flimsy that it pops up on it's own. My baby is a year old, and weighs approximately 24 lbs. so I can't say it is because she is too heavy for this. Maybe it is a defect in my stroller, but I just thought people should know before a bad accident happens.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great for just 1 and half years, until it started folding up while in use., August 23, 2005

This review is from: Chicco Red Caddy Stroller - 61099.70. (Baby Product)
This stroller was great for a year and a half. My only complaint until now was the sunshade.... it doesnt block much sun when up and falls off when down and seems to always catch on things when folded... but I could deal with that for how light and easy this stroller is. It's easy to steer one handed when needed and folds down very compact. However, now I am suddenly having problems with it folding while in use. It does it with both my 2.5 year old and my 9 month old, so its not related to weight. Every time it's happened I have been right there, so there have been no injuries, but I am leary to put my children in it now. I contacted Chicco and was told, "Sorry, you are out of warranty" Their products carry a 1 year warranty, and I purchased mine a year and a half ago. I only gave 2 stars because it was 4 or 5 star worthy until it started folding on its own,..... otherwise I would try to give it no stars. Every Mom wants to feel that their child is safe, and I am now uneasy about the safety of this stroller.

I bought this at the Target store and because I liked the feature. I opened it and used it probably once or twice and I had a problem with the lapbelts--it got stuck. I exchanged it for another. It had been great for a few months or until I had the same problem....... Uggggghhhh... awful! I now have to lift my daughter up and down to get into the stroller (and out too). I am so unhappy with this stroller. I will never buy chicco products... I gave them two chances and that's it for me! By the way, I contacted their customer service online but no response.

This seems like a really sturdy, lightweight stroller. I just wanted something simple and strong that can get us out of the house quickly--we live in a very hilly, sort of rustic area, so I needed something I could take my son to the park in without hauling out the big buggy. This is really light, and it folds and has a carrying strap in case the boy wants to walk a bit. (There is also a storage bag for travel.)

The tires have treads on them, so they can handle steep terrain, and they give a pretty smooth ride over bumps. The fabric is sort of a thick canvas-sy polyester--not removable, but it seems like it could easily be scrubbed/hosed clean if necessary. The seat also has some padding and back support (although, on the con side, it's probably not the coolest compared to mesh). The weight limit is given as 37 lbs, so my 19-month old still has plenty of room to grow--his shoulders are comfortable and his feet don't reach the footrest yet (he is 27 pounds and about 33 inches tall). On the plus side, it seems bigger than the Wrangler All-Weather umbrella stroller, plus it reclines a bit (you unzip/unbutton the sides to allow the fabric to unfold), unlike the Volo.

The square canopy is maybe not the greatest (it only covers the face, and could actually sit a little higher I think)--but as for everyone complaining that it falls off, I have found that when you flip the canopy to the back, if you then detach the back flap from the seat, you can attach the side flaps to that velcro on the back to keep it from sliding off.

Some people have also mentioned kicking the wheels, but I'm 5'6" and haven't had any problems--I think it's a matter of not standing right on top of the thing since it's an umbrella stroller and doesn't have a superwide wheelbase.

I would give it 4.5 stars I think, but am giving 5 because of the great price! I'm pretty happy with this--and my son is constantly trying to climb in, so he must like it too... I figure that with the money we saved, we can buy a nice Kettrike or some other form of transportation the boy can grow into.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lightweight, October 22, 2006
This review is from: Chicco Red Caddy Stroller - 61099.70. (Baby Product)
After going through MANY strollers, this stroller definitely gets my vote. It's lightweight, compact, and has lots of features that a bulky stroller has. The handles are long so I don't have to hunch over anymore as I did with my umbrella stroller. The recline feature is also good. It allows my son to sleep comfortably rather than falling to the front while asleep. The basket is also nice. The only reason I gave it 4 star because sometimes the wheels tend to get twisted around and get stuck while being on rough sidewalks. Other than that, I really like this stroller.

We've used this since my daughter was about 7 1/2 months old; she's now 2 1/2 and we've never had any problems with it. This is the best stroller for quick trips to the mall, park, etc. The sunshade is great and the built in carrying strap is a good idea too. We've never used the rain cover, so I can't comment on that. It doesn't have a storage basket, but I don't know many umbrella strollers that do. For longer trips, we just take our full size Combi stroller if we need the storage or full recline option. I would definitely recommend this stroller for a light "quick outing" stroller to keep in the car.

5.0 out of 5 stars My baby loves this stroller, May 15, 2007

This review is from: Chicco Red Caddy Stroller - 61099.70. (Baby Product)
I bought this for a recent trip to from the East Coast to the Midwest. My baby was only 4-1/2 months old, but I bought this umbrella stroller even though it is recommended for age 6 months and up. When I unzipped the sides to make it recline, she was able to sit up comfortably. She hates the shoulder straps in her car set, but the harness on this stroller doesn't bother her. It is a little short as some other reviewers have mentioned. But I'm only 5'3" and my husband is only 5'6", so I bought it anyway. I find that it manouvers so well, I don't even need 2 hands. In the airport, I pushed my baby with one hand and pulled a carry-on bag with the other. I didn't have to stand directly behind it, I can push it with one hand while standing next to it, so I don't kick the tires.

The only drawback is that I had to use a wrench to remove the sun visor. It seemed to get in the way while we were in the airport, so I wanted to remove it. But I had to wait until we reached our destination to find a tool to remove it. And now I want to put it back on so I can take her for walks in it outside instead of using my giant stroller/car seat combo.
