No, really, they are. They will coat this thing in substances you never thought you'd given them to eat. The bad part about it is that you can't separate the fabric from the metal frame, so when it's time to decontaminate the dining room table, you have to just take this out back and hose it down...or just burn it.

It's sturdy and the locking clamps work well in case your table doesn't have a skirt which prevents them launching themselves horizontally onto the tile floor by resting their feet on the edge of the table and leg pressing themselves off into oblivion.

I recommend getting the version with the removable tray, but realistically, you've probably already lost control of your life, so just get whatever.

We use this as an alternative to a full size high chair and it works well.

Bad points: I like the grippy hippos but find that food gets stuck under the hippo grips and in the creases of the hippos - not a huge deal but it does mean that I have to losen the chair and wash it after each use. Also there is a space between the chair and the table which has become a favorite space for our daughter to "drop" food and practice her favorite word "Oht-oh!". I think that both of these "bad points" could be remedied with a plastic type placemat with perfect placement.

Good points: We have traveled with this chair and although a little bulky (with all the other baby gear you need to carry along) it was a nice way to visit friends and not be juggling an infant on our laps. This chair also allows your baby to sit at the table and therefore interact more during mealtime - a huge bonus for social skills and family time. The compact size of this chair (compared to regular high chairs) fits our rather small dining room, letting us move around it without being squished.

I bought this chair when my son was about 10 months old so I could stop folding up the Chicco highchair in our kitchen when guests came over. It was great for that purpose, and now I just leave it attached to the table most of the time!

Washing the cover, however, is much more difficult than I'd expect from Chicco. There's a foam no-slip lining for the top bar that makes sliding the cover off really frustrating, and I struggled with it for a good 10 minutes before making any real progress. The worst part is that I didn't even need to wash the entire cover. I just needed to wash the arm pads, which Chicco should have made removable. Instead, the arm pads are sewn onto the inside part of the chair cover, even though they only attach with snaps to the outside of the cover. I'm considering cutting the arm cover free since it doesn't seem to be a structural part of the chair, but from Chicco, I feel like it should have been done right when it came out of the box.

We bought the chair to save space and to bring our son closer to the table. It does that well, but it is EXTREMELY difficult to clean. It takes some wrestling to get the fabric off to wash, too much effort to do so with any regularity. My husband came up with the idea of throwing it into the dishwasher, which actually works really well (then we air dry it over one of the floor vents), but it still should be much easier to clean. As others noted, the food falls in the crack between the chair and the table, gets stuck in the creases of and under the hippos, and the fabric is anything but wipeable. Chicco should at least have made the arm pads removable, as they get the dirtiest. That said, we really like the space saving feature but are actively looking for an easier to clean alternative.

I did not purchase mine from Amazon because I found better deals on other websites but I am writing my review here because this is where I always come to read product reviews! I absolutely love this high chair. So much so, I purchased a second one. My initial intent was to leave it in the car and use it for restaurants and family visits. We started using it at the kitchen table at home and never took it off! My daughter loves being a part of the action at the table and I love having her right next to me. I want her to understand what family meal time is all about and this chair makes it possible. As soon as she could sit fairly well around 6 months she was in it.

It does get dirty pretty easily but I just wipe clean after each use and then machine wash and air dry about once a week. The first time removing the fabric cover from the metal frame was difficult. After a couple times though it gets easier. The pain is worth it! The only real downside to the chair is that when it is attached to the table there is a little gap between the table and the front of the chair that food will ALWAYS fall through. But, that's why they make brooms. As my daughter gets bigger and better at handling her food I don't think that will be much of a problem.

I saw that a new model the 360 is available, and would go for that instead of this --
This is almost perfect -- I loved travelling with it, and its awesome. The cons
are that it takes a lot of wiping down to clean up, with quite a bit of elbow grease
and the gap between the seat and the counter/table is quite significant. So lots of
food does get dropped down that gap. For everyday use, I found that its really messy
compared to my prima pappa chairs with the removable tray, and vinyl seats. You have
to wipe down with a damp/wet cloth to clean up and since it is made of cloth itself,
it gets wet and needs drying time before the next use. So breakfast to snack time
1-2 hrs is not sufficient drying time sometimes for a really gooey breakfast mess
that I had to wet wipe. Once a week or sometimes more often, I take it off, take out
the arm pieces and cardboard seat foam, and wash it in our laundry sink. (The curved
iron peice stays on the seat since its just too hard to take off and put back on)

The seat is too upright to use for an infant less than about 7 - 8 months old. So for the first
two months I had to use only my prima pappas that have a recline and lots more support with
a five point harness. I did not have theses for my older son and switched from high chair to
stokke when he was 2 or so.

As a pro, it wipes up /washes up to look as good as new week after week and I have had
it for 6 mo or so of constant use. I have them up on my island, so that they can eat
while watching me cook etc. and feel more part of what we are doing in the kitchen.
I use the prima pappa's still a lot and totally love those. If I had to give one up,
I would say I would give up the prima pappas, but really could not have used these
to start feeding my twins for a few mo.
