Book Description

NEW EDIT IS READY FOR DOWNLOAD (apologies for previous mistakes found and now corrected).

It started like any other month, but when passengers on board a train find themselves robbed at gunpoint and over the following weeks, a clothing manufacturer, a jewellery shop and finally a book-store. What do all these places have in common? Besides, a young woman named Kelly Stanford since she was at each incident and became the victim of someone who took great pleasure in stealing her handbags, not to mention her Chick-Lit books.

Just what type of man are we dealing with here? Kelly tries her best to continue as normal, but the crimes have clearly affected her greatly and it all comes to a head when she falls for the new love interest to enter into her life. She also discovers her stolen Chick-Lit novels for sale in the second-hand wicker basket on the counter. Is it possible that the bookseller bloke and the lone gunman are the same person? It would simply be so typical of her bad luck lately, without her late (adoptive) grandmother's brooch which the thief took in the first robbery.
Find out more by reading this British, funny farcical novella. This is book one in the trilogy and book two is titled Chick-Lit Stole My Life and book three is titled Chick-Lit Staged My Life as it's currently at a website near you..

1.0 out of 5 stars A terrible ramble May 10, 2012
By Athira
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book couldn't hold my interest ... it couldn't even hold it's own interest! In the middle of any scene in the book the main character goes off into long, disjointed, meandering musings leaving the reader out of place. When you finally get back to what's happening (several pages later) you've forgotten what was going on! The ramblings were intended to be amusing I guess but I thought they were utterly pointless and overdone. I skimmed to the end to see what happened, but even as a shorter length work this book was just too hard to follow and left me feeling mentally dizzy.

1.0 out of 5 stars oh God... June 15, 2012
By Krissy
Format:Kindle Edition
This can't even be considered a completed book. i mean it was horrible! There was only one true review and that would be the 1 star review. This book was all over the place! Apparently the writer had too many ideas and just decided to put EVERYTHING down. I took 2 days to read this book...TWO! Every time I picked my kindle up I remembered what book I was ready and got an instant headache, mainy because the main character's constant ramblings empitomized annoying and tedious.
What I won't do? Recommend this book...probably only to my worst enemy.

1.0 out of 5 stars needed many rewrites before publishing June 20, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Tries too hard and is mostly asides taking place in author's head. I couldn't finish it. In fact I didn't make it past the third page.

2.0 out of 5 stars Was this satire? parody? August 1, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I find it hard to believe that this could be anything other than a scathing parody of mainstream chick-lit; there's no way this was an actual "to be taken seriously" book.

It was poking fun at the rambly thoughts, clumsy nature, self sabotaging behavior, and random romances of Chick-lit - correct? Please tell me this was satire.

1.0 out of 5 stars Passing gas was the highlight, and I HATED that. August 24, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
First, let me say that I do see some talent in this writer. At first I thought all the negative reviews were wrong. Could it really be that bad? Well, the truth is that it is that bad, because the author needs to discover a four-letter-word: EDIT.

Chick-Lit Saved My Life (book one, no less) starts out with great promise. I was enjoying the idea of this inner monologue from a comedic heroine with a gun pointed at her... It had the possibility of moving on to some tremendous action that brought in other characters and plot twists. However, I read just as far as I could, and nothing else ever happened besides ramblings that included her delight in passing gas in elevators. That was something I could have done without. It added nothing to the character and turned me off to anything else she had to say. Did she do it to some pompous villain who we learn deserved it after some revealing scene of conflict? No. There is nothing there.

My advice to the author is to find out what this story is about before she adds another page. EDIT!!

Terrible. Just too wordy. Constant digressions that I guess were supposed to be comical and light-heartedly funny, but were simply tangential to the story and not amusing. Read more

Very clever - well worth my time! It's funny and suspenseful, action packed yet bookish. Plus, it's free, so it's quite a bargain too.

More About the Author

Maureen Reil was born in Liverpool, England but lives in Lancashire in the North West of Great Britain. She is an author with a passion for writing funny stories and a deep-seated need to share the laughter in order to put a smile on someone's face, which started as a happy hobby that brought so much enjoyment to not only herself but others too when reading her work. Her books are all, written in a 'chatty' conversational style as if your best friend is telling you about something hilarious that had happened to her in the author's own uniquely comedic voice. Maureen is grateful to those who have supported her writing ambitions and enjoyed the crazy characters and comical circumstances she creates. It has been a great publishing journey so far for the comedy romance writer and long may it continue as Maureen Reil is currently working on another project and hopes to bring it to her readers soon, so watch this space for future releases since she is not done yet. Despite the best efforts of her health, her husband, three sons and a pet dog to disturb her when she is sitting on her ever-expanding bottom all day staring at a screen and doing nothing more than using her over-active imagination to make stuff up which she calls a job, unbelievable, according to some.
