Does NOT include Trashy Town,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Chicka Chicka Boom Boom & Chicka Chicka 1 2 3 (Scholastic Storybook Treasures) (DVD)
I bought this as a replacement to another Scholastic Treasures DVD which included Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and Trashy Town. The DVDs I received did not include Trashy Town. Although my son enjoys all the books on these DVDs, the one we were really purchasing this for was Trashy Town. We were disappointed the DVD was not the same as the original one we had. Following is a list of the titles on each DVD:
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom 1. Chicka Chicka Boom boom 2. Five Creatures 3. Wild About Books 4. Inch by Inch 5. Blueberries for Sal 6. A Story, A Story 7. Millions of Cats Chicka Chicka 1-2-3 1. Chicka Chicka 1, 2, 3 2. Emily's First 100 Days of School 3. How Much is a Million? 4. If You Made a Million

I found the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and Chicka Chicka 123 songs on Youtube, and my 2 1/2 year-old would watch them forever. She even learned which button to click to play the video again. But I wasn't comfortable letting her loose on Youtube, and I didn't want to be sitting there next to her, stuck watching these over and over again either, so I decided to buy them on DVD.
I couldn't tell you if any of the other stories are any good, as she's not interested in seeing them yet. She insists we put the DVD on the menu screen and she chooses whichever Chicka Chicka song is in the disc drive (she watches on a computer) and clicks the image from the menu to watch over and over (and over and over) again. She even tries singing the songs as she jumps around on the neighbor's trampoline! I don't think these stories teach her numbers or letters, really. For that, try the Leapfrog DVD series. They've done wonders for her letter/number recognition and phonics! In the Chicka Chicka stories, the letters and numbers move too fast on the screen, and the lyrics whip by so fast, plus some of the figures are altered to have hair or be injured, or whatever, so they don't even look right. But these are great for reinforcing and remembering once they've basically learned their letters and numbers, and the tunes are catchy and a lot of fun.

My sister had borrowed this DVD from the library and her boys loved it. I bought one for them for their birthdays. In fact the adults were even singing along. LOL I would highly recommend it!

I was disappointed in this DVD which I bought to help my grandson learn numbers over 10. The words are sung and hard to hear, the numbers go too fast for a little one (though he follows the book while watching).

I love the Scholastic DVDs and books. They are clean, educational and fun to watch/read. There are no unnecessary evils, bad language - just simple and clean fun. This set is very well thought of and it consists of number of good stories which keeps kids entertaining while educating them. This set and Chrysanthemum Dvds are must haves for your collection.

I bought this becuase our existing DVD became too scratched up to use.
This time around I made a custom DVD with just Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and Chicka Chicka 123 and Alphabet Jungle (from Sesame Street) playing over and over again and all my kids (age 2 to 5) will just watch it forever if we let them. Since reading and math is key and understanding letters and numbers is key to reading and match, this works for us. The more interest they take in letters, the easier it seems for them to learn to read and be excited about reading. Of course having tons of books around and reading with them every night and candy math is probably key as well, but my custom DVD provides a good hour of babysitting when we really need to we get stuff done.

My daughter LOVES Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, and had it memorized within a month of getting the book (she was 2 1/2 then) - so we got her the DVD for her 3rd birthday. The CCBB-ABC and -123 stories are good, and she enjoys watching them. But with a few exceptions, most of the other stories are pretty slow, and don't hold her interest. My biggest complaint is the quality of both discs: there are "catches" every minute or so (or more). I don't see any scratches, our DVD player works fine, and they were like this from the first time we played it ... so I presume it is something within the content itself. I don't see any other mention of this in the reviews, so I don't know why we are having this problem.

Should have read the reviews, but trusted the description of the video. Never again! Bought this for Trashy Town. Amazon should check info before having it on screen. Kids love Chicka Chicka, but that was only one reason for purchase!
