5.0 out of 5 stars Good overview of the campaign, June 27, 2009
This review is from: Chickamauga Campaign: Great Military Campaigns of History (The Great Military Campaigns of History) (Hardcover)
A good overview of the campaign, as well as an illustration of the impact a leader has on their forces for good or ill. General Braxton Bragg of the Confederacy was inept; a different commander with more confidence in his subordinate commanders could have turned this from a minor victory for the South into a major calamity for the North, perhaps even the recapture of Chattanooga. On the other hand, General Rosencrans of the Union was no prize, either. If General George Thomas had been in overall command of the Union forces, perhaps a Union victory might have occurred.
