Awesome,
By
This review is from: Chickamauga (The Civil War Battle Series, Book 7) (Hardcover)
This is the 7th book in a series of 10 by Mr. Reasoner. I have read all the ones that have been published so far. My only complaint is that they aren't published fast enough! Mr. Reasoner is a fantastic author. His wording makes you "see" where the characters are. I read this book in just a very short time, losing sleep because I just couldn't put it down. His historical facts are accurate in every book. Everyone that likes to read about the Civil War should read these books. They would even be good reading for someone not familiar with the battles because his story lines are so good. Please hurry and get #8 published - it's gonna be hard to wait.

Facing Defeat,
By Westy (Pennsylvania) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Chickamauga (The Civil War Battle Series, Book 7) (Hardcover)
After the losses at Gettysburg and Vicksburg, the Confederacy hopes to regroup. Mac and Will Brannon, one badly wounded, retreat with Robert E. Lee's forces into Virginia. Meanwhile, Titus and Cordelia's former beau, Nathan Hatcher, find themselves in desperate straits in a Northern prison camp, while Cory continues to find himself thrown into battle, despite never having enlisted. And, at home, Henry, the youngest Brannon brother, his mother Abigail, and sister Cordelia, face problems of their own... not the least of which is Henry's growing feelings for his brother's wife, Polly.Another well-written, gripping volume in The Civil War Battle Series.

Story Ends Abruptly but History Factual,

This review is from: Chickamauga (The Civil War Battle Series, Book 7) (Paperback)
The author must have been on a deadline to complete this book as the story ends abruptly. There are 4 brothers being followed in this story and the author sets each of the 4 stories up well in the first quarter of this 400 page novel. Unfortunately the author spends way too much time (over half of the book) on one of the brothers riding with N.B. Forrest and as a result, concludes the other 3 brothers stories in the last 3 pages of the book. Clearly a sequel could come from this book. Unfortunately the author concludes the story of the other brothers so abruptly that you feel cheated having become interested in their outcome only to have them quickly dismissed.

A War Torn Family,
By Ruth Thompson "Weaver of Tales" (Venice, FL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Chickamauga (The Civil War Battle Series, Book 7) (Paperback)
The South has to try and over come the lost at Vicksburg and Gettysburg. The Brannon family face one son in retreat with Lee, one severely wounded, Cory still in the fight, and Titus is at Ft. Douglas Prison Camp where conditions are horrible. On the home front the youngest brother Henry eyes are on the forbidden. Again, Reasoner keeps you entertain with the drama of the Brannon family.
