Chicken Ain't Chicken is campy western swing at it's best. The songs are mostly old country and folk, but the band makes them their own. It's not covers of old stuff. It's truely something new.
I would liken their sound to Dixie Chicks with better guitar and fiddle, or Asleep At The Wheel with 3 Elizabeth McQueens. I love the campy western swing genre of cowbow music, and this is the best I've heard in the last five years. Buy it. You won't be dissappointed.

These folks know how to cook up a great jam. This album is a must-have. It wets my appetite for some killer tunes and keeps me hungry for more!

Oh ya!
I'm supposed to write twenty words for this review, though I only feel I need to write the title and two words. This is a very talented group I saw at Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival. Returned home and a week later some of their songs were still circulating in my brain, so I bought the cd and have been diggin it ever since. |
