5.0 out of 5 stars Chicken soup for the Surviving Soul
After my diagnosis with breast cancer five years ago at age 28,this book was part of my salvation. Reading stories of otherssurvival helped me to realize that cancer is beatable. I now recommend this book to other cancer patients.

This was the first book that ever made me cry. I feel so lucky to be in such great condition in stage two. For those of you who have lost hope, this book will show you that life is real. Life is worth it. Life will go on if you let it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A book every cancer patient should read., October 26, 1998

This review is from: Chicken Soup for the Cancer Survivor's Soul (Chicken Soup for the Soul (Hardcover Health Communications)) (Hardcover)
Having been diagnosed with breast cancer at 25, I needed to know that I wasn't alone. I read this book and felt so confident that I was going to beat this illness with faith and prayer. Reading peoples experiences helped so much in my recovery. I'm now cancer free and encourage people who have cancer and family of cancer patients to read this inspirational book. Thank you for writing and sharing such wonderful stories.

5.0 out of 5 stars Faith, hope and love but the greatest of these is love, May 8, 2000

"Malignant", to hear this word when you or someone you love is diagnosed brings feelings of despair, fear and abandonment. The "Chicken Soup for the Soul" series gives you bits of humanity and makes you feel hopeful, trusting and accepting. The stories, poems and essays are put together to give to us encouragement. I myself am a 12 year survivor of stage 2 breast cancer and find the pages filled with new beginnings.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good for those who haven't had cancer too..., December 26, 2002
By
If you have ever had a difficult time in your life, this is a good book for you. I read this book when I was having a very depressing time, a time where I was not sure I was going to make it out. This book, though, was a gateway for me. Since I don't have cancer, this book didn't inspire me in that way, but it did inspire me. I saw people that had a harder life then I did, and I realized that I would get through, that life would improve for me, and it has. :o)

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, September 9, 2007

You won't find a lot of technical mumbo jumbo here, but what you will find is a beautifully written book of inspirational stories to soothe the cancer-ridden soul. I tend to shy away from anything that has "chicken soup" on the cover, but this was given by a colleague and I've treasured it. Great gift to newly-diagnosed loved ones and friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars I loved this book!, November 2, 1997
By A Customer
This book influences me everyday to reach out to people and help them. Also, after a long day or a fight with a parent, I really feel comforted just by picking up Chicken Soup for the Soul and reading any story anywhere. I hope others can feel as many special emotions as I feel when I read these stories

5.0 out of 5 stars The gift of "Hope", February 21, 2008
I bought this book as a gift for a friend of mine who has cancer. She has been through quite an ordeal since her diagnosis 4 months ago and still has a long, difficult road ahead. I feared that she was losing hope and her spirits were low, so I gave this book to her. I didn't read it myself first, but after reading the reviews here, I was counting on this lifting her spirits.

She says it is so great to read positive stories for a change. She has been so bogged down with doctors and treatments, it was hard to see anything positive. She says this book has been a great help to her and made her realize that anything is possible.
