5.0 out of 5 stars Like a plate of Comfort Food November 23, 2011
Format:Paperback
This latest edition of the popular Chicken Soup for the Soul series focuses on Food and Love, two things that are often intermingled. The stories in this book range from those of newlyweds just learning to cook, to children helping in the kitchen, to foods and recipes that are made in memory of a loved one who has passed away. This is a perfect book to get to read if you only have short snippets of time (such as waiting at the doctor's office or on going on a flight) as most of the stories are only 3 pages long. This book makes an ideal gift for Food Lovers, cooks and anyone who enjoys uplifting and inspiring stories. There are even recipes included, should you feel inspired to replicate some of the dishes in the book. I highly recommend this book for anyone who needs a comforting read this holiday season.

5.0 out of 5 stars Recipes were Included!!! February 14, 2012
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
If you EAT, you have to love this book. There are no smells, but the stories will stir up memories and bake your senses. Without frying your brain, you will toast the writers who have sauteed their stories into FOOD bliss! Can you tell this is another of my favorites? Not quite as good as Chicken Soup's INSPIRATION FOR THE YOUNG AT HEART, (my all time favorite) but it sure comes close.

5.0 out of 5 stars CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE SOUL: Food and Love July 7, 2012
Format:Paperback
There is something about food that not only connects you to those you care about but is a great conversation piece when it seems you can't find the right words to say. In this Chicken Soup for the Soul installment you get a bit of both worlds.

The contributors share how they were able to create dialogue in the kitchen or were able to use food as a way of bringing people together and bringing each other together. I smiled at the story where the mother used "magic" in the kitchen to get her daughter to eat. And then there is the account of the husband who was able to use the simple act of preparing a meal to show how much he appreciated what his wife had been doing for him and the rest of the family.

Regardless how you slice it (smile), FOOD AND LOVE do seem to go hand in hand. I know every time I am able to prepare a meal for my grandmother or a family event it always makes it taste better when you include a piece of yourself into the recipe. Speaking of recipes, you'll find some of them as well. Just make sure that you don't forget the most important ingredient in everything you bring to the table: LOVE.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Love this Series! June 21, 2012
Format:Paperback
I always reach for a book from this series when I am feeling my lowest. Yes, I have bad days like everyone else, and these stories always pick me up. It doesn't even have to be relevant to my situation, it's just nice hearing inspirational stories of strength, faith, love, respect and perseverance.
Food and Love didn't disappoint either. The best part is, the food lover in me got recipes! And you know I had to pick one to try. Tonight we tried the Cauliflower in Spicy Tomato Sauce.
MMM...
It accompanied other things, but we'll focus on this dish from the book.
It was an Indian flavor, which is my absolute favorite! It wasn't very hard to make at all, and it tasted delicious. My only criticism is to cook the veggies a tad longer than required in the book, but it's also per taste.
I think food lovers will enjoy the book for the recipes and the great stories that are all food related.
I definitely recommend!
