Many tears and much laughter are what the Chicken Soup for the Soul books are known for and this one does not disappoint. If you are a big fan of the "most wonderful time of the year," or if you need a little pick me up with the "holiday blues," this book has something for you. Each story tells of real-life angels being the hands and feet of God and loving and putting others above themselves.

The sections included are: The True Meaning, Miracles Happen, Santa's Elves, From the Mouths of Babes, Bark! The Herald Angels Sing, The Naughty List, A Little Help from My Friends, Holiday Hijinks, Bittersweet Christmas, and Making Memories. I think it will be easy for each reader to find a favorite from this line-up.

This book is perfect for a coffee table, bathroom read, teacher's gift, for a doctor's office, or even a stocking stuffer. So many ways for 101 Christmas stories to touch so many hearts.

The publisher sent me the above book for review purposes. It will allow me to keep the book. I have no other connection to and have received no other compensation from Chicken Soup for the Soul.

For 20 years I have enjoyed the Chicken Soup for the Soul Books and I don't claim to have read all 250, but I know I have read lots of them. Each book I have read inspires me in some way and this book was no different.

There were some amazing stories that filled each page cover to cover! Christmas memories through the years were brought back to the surface of my memory. It was almost like the stories were being told just for me. It was an excellent book that was broken into 10 different sections with amazing stories in each section. There were a total of 101 stories in this wonderful book and I read it in it's entirety in less than 3 days! Once I got started I couldn't put it down and it is a definite must read.

We spend so much more time with the extended families during the holidays. We should remember that just because it isn't a holiday we should still spend time with family. We all get busy but the older I get the more I regret not spending time with my grandparents when I was "to busy". We are never to busy at the holidays so I want to encourage each of you to spend more time with your family and read this amazing book to jog your Christmas memories.

I always start decorating my house for Christmas the week of the Toronto Santa Claus Parade. It takes me several weeks to get my house in the festive spirit and I am happy to say that I finished decorating this year rather early (early for me): the entire house was done by November 30. I was filled with Christmas spirit and wanted a light, leisurely feel-good Christmas read so I grabbed the latest Christmas collection in the Chicken Soup for the Soul series. I had never read such a collection before, yet I knew what they were like. Chicken Soup for the Soul: It's Christmas! 101 Joyful Stories about the Love, Fun, and Wonder of the Holidays was 406 pages of delightful Christmas stories covering a variety of topics, such as Christmas miracles, Christmas and pets, bittersweet Christmas memories and holiday hijinks. Whether a happy story or bittersweet, the tears flowed copiously in It's Christmas! It did seem overwrought, how much crying there was in all of these stories. The humour was however more abundant and I had a chuckle over the following spelling error:

"There were candles in the widows." (from "Clay Baby Christmas").

One of my favourite stories told of the generosity of neighbours at Christmastime. In "It Takes a Village", after the family dog ate the twenty-pound turkey meant for a feast for thirty guests, neighbours went up and down the streets asking families for dinner donations. Some donated a drumstick, a wing and so on, each family giving up a turkey part so that one family and their guests could enjoy a Christmas dinner of their own. I also enjoyed "The Stinky Gift that Kept on Giving", about a joky exchange of a jar of limburger cheese that lasted for eighteen years.

The stories in It's Christmas!

Another collection of 101 stories by real people that will in turn inspire or entertain all but the most Scrooge-like Grinches. The theme of the stories are all related to Christmas. All of the stories are just a few pages, so you can read one or two in your spare moments.

I felt like I was part of one of the tales this holiday season. I lost my father on October 14th this year. My mom was scheduled to have knee surgery that same day. Needless to say, her operation was postponed. She got it done at the beginning of December. This meant, she was going to be on a walker until right before Christmas. She wouldn't be able to do a lot of her normal Christmas preparations. With the help of my siblings, we have tried to pick up as much of the preparations as we could from my mom. But between my not-so-great health and their jobs, it has still been a challenge. The final thing is that my dog (it belongs to my mom and me actually) had a stroke and had to be put to sleep. We ended up burying him exactly 2 months after we had buried my dad. Needless to say, there have been a lot more tears than normal this season. But while reading these stories, I was reminded of a few simple things. It doesn't matter if everything isn't the same as previous years and we have to skip a tradition here or there. What matters is that the family is all gathering. While there also be some empty spots caused by loved ones being gone, they will still be there in our hearts.

So for me these stories helped to make a difficult time, less difficult.
