It makes the pre-menopausal women dread Menopause!,
By Graphic Novel / Manga Reader "ownstoomanybooks" (Land of the Palm Trees (USA)) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Chicken Soup for the Soul in Menopause: Living and Laughing through Hot Flashes and Hormones (Paperback)
I am still in my child-bearing years and I thought I'd get the book to learn more about Menopause and boy did I!! It is informative. It made me dread menopause and not want to look forward to the future of aging.
It may be funny to menopausal & post-menopausal women but it isn't for those who haven't gotten there yet. It seems sad and scary that we have to go through these changes. It's like reading about people who have gone through the horrors of their Wisdom teeth removal and you're dreading your turn! My mother who already went through menopause did not have any of the symptoms listed in the book so I'm hoping I'll be lucky and escape the horrors of the symptoms. In all, the book was informative with alot of details of what happens during menopause. Those who already went through it or are going through it will enjoy it better because they can relate to these stories and that they aren't alone during the 'change'.

I have had quite a few laughs from this book. If you are looking for ideas of ways to ward off menopausal symtoms, this is not the book for you. If you are looking for ways to have some laughs and know you are not alone in menopause, this is the book for you! Warm, funny and oh so true menopausal stories.

First, let me say that I was lucky enough to be a contributor to this anthology.
Mother Nature can't get us down unless we let her, and I, for one, have no intention of allowing her the last laugh. There is nothing better than laughing-out-loud at the foibles we women endure as we approach mid-life. And knowing you are not the only male dealing with women throwing off covers when it's freezing, forgetting where they put stuff, complaining about chin hairs, or crying for no reason at all may offer solace to the males who live with us! This is a book that will be handed down from mother to daughter in many families (with added tips and commentary personalized by the females who've experienced this normal process). A perfect book to give as a gift or buy to brighten a rainy day, CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE SOUL IN MENOPAUSE will bring a smile, a giggle, or a tear as you read stories of those who have gone before us.

A Must Read Book!,
This review is from: Chicken Soup for the Soul in Menopause: Living and Laughing through Hot Flashes and Hormones (Paperback)
This is no ordinary self-help or inspirational book. What it offers is a way of comprehending menopause. Women no longer have to feel alone or confused about what is happening to them. The many honest personal experience stories, poems and cartoons are often humorous because they ring so true. This is no dry text book of symptoms. This is women dealing with changes in body, mind and personality. The book encourages women not to be discouraged or frightened by these often unpleasant changes such as hot flashes, memory lapses, a thickening waistline and irritability. Instead, the book creates a sense of sisterhood. It encourages women to see menopause not as an end but a new beginning or phase of life. Women don't need group therapy if they buy this book. The men in their lives will also benefit from reading the book; it will give them insight and understanding. The book is a must read for every woman!

You are never alone,
By
This review is from: Chicken Soup for the Soul in Menopause: Living and Laughing through Hot Flashes and Hormones (Paperback)
I contributed to this book because I thought sharing my experiences might help other women. Having read the entire book, I realize it is much more than individuals telling their stories, much more than a book about the menopause. This to me is what Chicken Soup is all about, no matter what is going on in your life, you are never alone. The stories are humorous and warm and the entire book is uplifting. No matter what age you are, this book will make you smile and that is more than any medical book can do!

Even though I am post-menopausal I am still laughing my way through these stories, just wishing the book had been published five years ago (although I wouldn't have had the pleasure of being a contributor then). This is a great book for every woman even close to menopause age. Just knowing we're all in this together is a comfort. The book is a hoot...and what can be better for your soul than a good laugh!

One hot book!,

Hot and bothered meant one thing when I was in my twenties and newly married. Now that I am a soul in menopause, the phrase has an entirely different meaning! This delightful book reminds me that I am not alone in my suffering; I have many forgetful, moody comrades with their heads in freezers, too! What a wonderful and thoughtful gift for a lady entering this challenging phase of life, not to mention the husband's wondering if they will make it through!
