I recently visited a friend's home in Southern California and gained new insight into the cat lover's soul. This man and his wife have nine cats that roam freely throughout their house, both inside and out. They love each and every one of their cats, and they often take in new strays.

Like snowflakes (and people as well, I suppose) no two cats are alike. Each of their animals have a unique personality and different needs. Some like to be held, others want to be left alone, and still others require little more than a saucer of milk or a bowl of Friskies Surf and Turf.

I wrote a story about the first cat I owned in this book. It's called "A Cat Named Garbage." I've owned a dozen cats since that one, and I've grown deeply attached to all of them. It's impossible not to. The one we now have (Black Jack is her name) was found by my daughter, Emily, in the woods, starving and near death. Emily carried her home, and we nursed her back to health. One litter of kittens and five healthy pounds later, Black Jack is the most grateful cat I've ever known. She brings us gophers and moles daily, as if to say "Thank you for saving me. Thank you so much." When I hold her in my lap she not only purrs, she drools on me. That's how happy she is.

Chicken Soup for the Soul: My Cat's Life is chock full of such heartwarming, amusing, and inspirational stories (101 of them to be exact). I challenge you to get through this book without laughing or shedding a tear of joy. This is truly a one of a kind read filled with love and happiness. Buy a copy today and prepare to enjoy yourself.

Cats are not my favorite animal, even though I can't resist petting a wee tiny kitten. But his story collection of anecdotes from cat owners will bring smiles to dogs' best friend. It is fun, and all true. That's a requirement of Chicken soup for the Soul. No fiction. So if the story seems unbelievable; believe anyway, it's true, it happened.

Nikki Studebaker Barcus, a friend who attends my church, is included in this collection. Her story "The Truce" about rival farm cats is heartwarming, when the corn-field stray, makes up and offers truce during the birthing process of the other. Of course, knowing one author, makes me prejudice to pick a favorite for "My Cat's Life" but choosing second place from the remaining 100 cat-tales is hard. You will enjoy the romp through this Chicken Soup collection. Take them one at a time, daily, or use it like Readers' Digest, have it resting on a bathroom shelf (within reach for the short readable times), or best, like me, read it on the patio swing. I had a stray cat walk between me and the pond while reading, giving me a new gentler feel for the bird-stalking feline.

Not all stories are just about a cat. Human relationships with this animal make up a goodly portion of the book and, yes, inspire, warm the heart, and touch on the compassionate bone of the soul. Not my first Chicken Soup book purchase, but it was my first ANIMAL Chicken Soup book purchase, and now after reading, not my last.

Chicken Soup is long noted for quality writing from not only published authors, but also from common folk who enjoy journal entries at home. This collection is no exception. A great family book, gift idea for cat lovers, and a potential change of heart for a few.

I laughed a lot, I cried a little and can't express how much I enjoyed some of these stories about our furry friends. Not all my cats lived for 19 plus years, some never even made it to their first birthdays but they all gave me something to remember and this book is full of similar stories. I particularly like the stories about the growing up cat which in my case was Brandy early 86 to Oct 2004 A female that saw me running around with toy cars to marriage and the birth of my son. I have had other cats since and currently have 3 but the growing up cat holds a special place in my heart.

This is my second journey into the Chicken Soup series. Being a cat fanatic I found it to be greatly to my liking. The book contains 101 stories about "All the ages and stages" of cats. The stories are really interesting and cover everything from lost cats, to dying ones, to the rambunctous, to the aggressive.

Like people, every cat has it's own personality. The writers of the stories bring this out very well. The stories are so short that it is easy to keep on going through the book, thinking this is the last story I will read, but the next one is so short I may as well go ahead and read it too. This is a good read for anyone who has an interest in cats and it is a good book to read on a rainy day, in your easy chair, with your cat in your lap. -- Valerie Lull, Author Ten Healthy Teas.

Chicken Soup for the Soul My Cat's Life is a great read, not only will the book make you laugh, but there are many stories that will make you cry.As if you are a cat lover or not you will find these stories tugging at your heart as finding out the true meaning of love between a cat and his owner.
As long as I can remember I have had a pets. And cats have usually been the first ones to add to our family. As they just bring so much joy and laughter to our lives. Each one has it's own personality and it's fun to watch them grow to be so independent. With a simple little dish of food and milk we have a friend for life.Such little things can mean so much~many times my cat will play with a string for hours, not the toys that I spent money on.And he is always there to greet me when I come home. But~we all know that we are there just to help them as in reality they are the boss of us!
