I LOVE THIS!!!!,

I was skeptical about this CD and only recently purchased it when the Delux package was $13.99 at Bestbuy. I put this in the CD player of my car, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. This isn't some rehash of a Sammy Hagar solo album or left over Van Halen ideas. This is something new, fresh, a tour-de-force to my ears. Sammy sounds great, Joe Satrani is amazing [as always], Michael Anthony is finally able to be in a band where he can show off his talents, and Chad Smith is a great time keeper. I'm not sure what else I can add that the other comments have not already stated other than BUY THIS NOW!!!!!!!!!

This band is hilarious. Not because I think it's a mockery or I think they're crap... but because they kick so much a**.
God. Do they ever bring it. This album isn't exactly phenomenal music, but it's more than listenable, and to hear these 4 guys in full motion is a real treat. Satch puts on a show, but doesn't take charge and doesn't do a lot of overdubs. There is plenty of room for Hagar, Anthony (who provides nice backup vocals), and Smith (who, like a lot of drummers, doesn't suffer from being a soft drummer). Like. Yeah. Just buy. Laugh. Rock.

I just had to obtain this CD?DVD and thanks to Amazon I could get it and what a bonus the DVD is. Man I do not care what people say about Sammy, he is a stage man and that is what I pay to see, the song the band the music and the fusion of life generated from personalities having fun giving me my monies worth, Sammy loves people as much as tequila so what beats Eddie and that fag in the neck of his guitar. The there is Joe and who would think that the maestro would play with the one they call Sam
Watch the DVD ...the first day of c.... all mature guitar, drummer loving bassduists and vocalist and lovers of music must get this album simply for one reason...you put your review when you have the answer!

This is what Satch fans have waited for all these years. Joe Satriani being part of a kick ass band that plays real rock and roll with vocals and a kick ass band. All the guitar players out there know that Satch is arguably the greatest rock guitarist of out time, the problem was that all his stuff is instrumental , and we wanted to hear what he would be like in a band, with a real singer. Well here it is. In my opinion every song on here is good. Sammy lyrics are fun ,lots about chicks and a party attitude. Mike Anthony and Chad Smith keep the rhythm steady and the bass is not buried in the mix. Anyway, the live dvd is great too. In a pop world where Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber are everywhere, us old (43) rock guys want it given to us hard and fun the way Van Halen did in their early years. This is what u are waiting for.

Wait, What? Rock and Roll Lives?,
This review is from: Chickenfoot (Deluxe Limited Edition with DVD) (Audio CD)
This CD has been out for a couple of years and has had hundreds of reviews right here on Amazon. So why would I add one after all this time you ask? Because I can. Also because I'm THAT guy. You know. The one that knows true rock and roll has been dead in America for almost 2 decades.
Ok look. Sammy isn't the greatest singer in the world. So what. The boy is in his early sixties and still, like me, rocken his A** off. And sure, there are other great guitar, drum and base players out there so it's extremely difficult to rate these guys. But that's not the point. The point is simply that together, these guys have released one of the greatest hard rock albums in the past two decades. (Move over Eddie) This is what rock and roll is all about. In your face vocals, wailing guitar work, raunchy bass hooks, and over the top drum smashing. Few bands comprised of people that have been playing for 30 or 40 years could ever accomplish this. They are about the release their second effert and I can't wait. I do however, have a couple of sour notes. I bought the limited edition with the bonus track and the DVD. The bonus track is totally forgettable and does not belong on the album. Fluffy filler. And the DVD is pretty much pointless with the exception that you get to see how these guys interact with each other not only as band mates, artists, and social screw ups. But also how they truly respect each others musicianship and friendship. So all in all, if you've been sitting in a dark room somewhere waiting for the next great American Rock and Roll record. Buy this one. It comes as close as anything else out there that has been released in 20 years. nuf said.

I think some of the music on this CD absolutely rocks. And like most albums, some songs fall flat. This group of artists come together quite nicely, and I look forward to future releases.

The original release was fantastic. Excellent Old School Rock and Roll with excellent musicianship all around. Singing, writing, guitars, the Bass, Drums. EVERYTHING.
But this edition tops it becuase of track #12 Bitten by the Wolf and the companion DVD. If you have a choice, there should be no choice. The original release was a masterpiece. THIS was better. No Brainer folks. Hawk

I just picked this up for $10 at Best Buy ...they are touting it as an exclusive and the bonus DVD has an hour of interview and performance footage which is very very fun indeed and completely worthy of the price alone...oh yeah and the CD is also included. If you like good old fashioned dumb hard rock ..then enjoy!!!

This is a good band, how could it not be? Being a Satriani fan and a guitarist myself of many years, I prefer his instrumental work. The last Professor Funkadelicus was his best. The songs on Chickenfoot work, despite Sammy cannot seem to get out of high school party mode, or realize he is older than me. Some riffs like Down the Drain show Satch's ability to load a heavy riff, but no real stand out moments of how he can really play, all in all Satch seems to be playing along on these tracks and Sammy seems to just make lyrics up on the fly while Joe is fooling around, and presto there is a song. I loved Sammy back in the old Montrose days, now that was some great material. I hope Satch does not retire from his great G3 or solo efforts or possibly allow Sammy's party up lifestyle to undermine his talents. He is too good for this outing. Anthony is a good bass player and can still toss a good high range backup harmony. I think he is glad to be working and seems like a really likeable guy to have in your band. The band is pro they know how to mesh as a band. The drummer and Anthony hold good grooves. Sammy can still sing, but I am rather pale on the high school, chick lyrics. I can see why Van Halen got tired of the material with Sammy and opted to retire. Sammy just comes off very immature and I feel he really is. It's OK to deny your age and try to keep alive and vibrant, but when you're 60 you should not be singing about sex and partying.
