Chieli Minucci: A Night With Chieli Minucci and Special EFX

As a long time fan of Chieli Minucci and Special EFX I was eager to purchase and watch/listen to this DVD. I have been listening to Chieli, George (rest in peace) and the group since the 80's.

First, the good: Chieli's guitar playing is as good as ever; the supporting cast is also very good; and, the DVD contains some of my favorites.

The not so good: video quality was not as sharp as other DVD muscic productions; audio quality was somewhat muted; and, more importantly, the DVD only has 7 songs(!). Chieli has an extensive library of music (over 17 CDs), why limit this effort to just 7 songs and 60 minutes? At the end of the day, I was left wishing for more.

All in all, if you are a Minucci and Speciall EFX fan, this is a nice to have DVD. I'm sorry to say that it is not a "must have" item.

I enjoyed this DVD very much, but was left a bit disappointed knowing Chieli has far more to impress us in DVD format. I'm not sure the choice of songs was the best, being the owner of 4 Chieli CD's. I was looking or hunting for some of my favorite songs in this 7 song DVD. But wasn't treated to any of my favorite. I write this in hopes that Mr. Chieli will consider composing yet another 5.1 surround DVD with some 'favorite' picks (Those should be easily known). All-in-All, I would highly recommend buying this DVD to add to your Chieli collection. It is an enjoyable performance, and is even better after a couple glasses of fine wine in yer belly. Chieli, please work on another DVD - you've got WAY too much to offer us yet in a quality DVD performance. Looking forward to the day that I can buy #2!!

His live performance is so natural and powerful. It is simply awesome. I saw his performance on the demo disk of DTS recently. I have both Blu-ray and HD-DVD version. His performance was awesome and mind-blowing. DTS-HD Master was so powerful and detailed that I could even felt the density of harmonic sound of his acoustic guitar.
I am veeery much looking forward to see this live performance in a Blu-ray version with DTS-HD Master sound.

Fantastic performances from Special EFX and Chieli Minucci. All the track performances brings out the best of both SPECIAL EFX crews and Chieli Minucci. A recommended collection for all smooth jazz fans out there !!!

Chieli is absolutely my favorite guitar player - and he is awesome on this disc. More songs would be nice, but the quality of the music and video make up for that many times over. Chieli is under-rated, if more people saw this disc they would see how good he really is. I love this one and look forward to the next one!

I thought this is a great DVD. The video could have been a better quality. But this DVD is Smooth Jazz.
