The Chiffons embody the simple yet yearning quality of the 60's girl groups. Their harmony and catchy riffs make this an all-out pleasure to listen to and enjoy. Especially fine is the little-heard "I Have a Boyfriend" which is representative of the early 60's scene. This is a must-have CD.

Lead singer Judy Craig, Sylvia Peterson, Barbara Lee, and Patricia Bennett formed the Chiffons when there were high school classmates in the Bronx. They started off as backup singers and ended up having a #1 hit. The Chiffons were arguably the definitive Girl Group of the Sixties (the key caveat here being that as soon as one of the girls gets her name out in front of the group, it ain't a girl group no more: classic example, Diana Ross & the Supremes), but this collection of their "Greatest Hits" does not live up to its billing. To be fair, you do get all three of their Top 10 hits: "He's So Fine" (#1 in 1963), "One Fine Day" (#5 in 1963), and "Sweet Talkin' Guy" (#10 in 1966). But there are only 10 tracks and if this is the Chiffons hit collection you get you miss out on "My Boyfriend's Back," "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow," "The Loco-Motion," and other songs you should want in your music library. Yes, you might have heard other versions of some of these songs, but that is not going to stop you from liking what the Chiffons do when they cover them. You need to pick up a more comprehensive Chiffons collection than this one.
