one of the greatest books on my bookshelf,

I have owned this book for 20 years - and I *am* still influenced by it! There is so much information and research compiled in here and the tone is wonderful; plus the photographs!!!!!!!I don't believe, in many ways, we have yet caught up to some of the kid lib and city design and social thoughts that were being expanded in the 70s...I havent' seen a book this good since. so sad! dont' rely on only the new or the internet. ( I see that when such a great book by a great man - completely famous - has no reviews up) GET yourself to the library and the used bookstores and find some treasures.
