A light and easy read book,
By "eye-sus" (Sweden) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Child of the Dawn: A Magical Journey of Awakening (Chopra, Deepak) (Paperback)
If you think that other books on this subject are too heavy and long - this is the book for you. Being around 130 pages, with big text - that's a first! This book is so much more then the exploring of a young boy, much more then morality and surviving in the sense of food and sleep. Set out in the poor persons every day life this book makes it simplistic and easy to grasp the real point with it. You get your own roots shaken a bit, your values re-set. At the end of this you have a sense of what real power is, what it truly means to be rich. Rich in the soul, not measured by money.

So Much More,
By A Customer
This review is from: Child of the Dawn: A Magical Journey of Awakening (Hardcover)
On reading this book, one gets the distinct impression that Gautama Chopra is capable of so much more. Why he chooses to take the easy road and write about something that would be commercially viable given his father's empire, I'm not sure. There are glimpses of wonderful talent in this book, as evinced when the protagonist Hakim runs across a meditative dancer: It seems as if Gautama has based the character of the beautiful dancer on a girl he's been in love with. His descriptions are breathtaking. But I'd like to see him break new ground, away from the self-help spirituality track, and write a piece of fiction that comes from his own heart, and most importantly, from his own mind--no one else's.

In search of who and why I am,
By Bobby K (Dover, New Hampshire United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Child of the Dawn: A Magical Journey of Awakening (Chopra, Deepak) (Paperback)
The Child of the Dawn is a book worth reading and then re reading. It is a story about a young boy in search of adulthood and the power that comes with being an adult. After an extensive search through out the countryside, the young boy discovers that what he is searching for can only be found from within. He must turn to himself to complete his search. Although not required, reading "The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success" by the author's father, will help you to better understand this book.

A Truly Magical Tale of Awakening,
By
This review is from: Child of the Dawn: A Magical Journey of Awakening (Chopra, Deepak) (Paperback)
Child of the Dawn by Gautama Chopra is a magical journey of awakening. Unlike most books that teach about the spiritual laws, this book tells a fictional tale about a young man on his own journey to be awakened. Child of the Dawn is a remarkable book. I have never before read a book that puts so many of the spiritual laws I've read into a story. For many people, reading about it as a story will help them to remember it and also help them really "get it." Hakim, the young man in the story, is lost and unsure what to do in his life to achieve everything he wants. For this reason, he is highly relatable to just about everyone that reads this story. He seeks the answers from a "wise one" and through his magical journey, he finds the answers. His tale is memorable, and all of the lessons he learns on the journey are as well. This is a tranquil read that can easily be read in one sitting. It is written very well and in an easy to understand manner, which is quite amazing because the message in the story is so strong. This is a great book to read for people of all ages that are on their own spiritual journey to being awakened. It would also make an excellent gift, so keep this in mind for the holidays. I highly recommend this book for everyone to read. * Thank you to the publisher of Child of the Dawn, Amber Allen, for providing me with a copy of this book for review. All opinions expressed are my own.

similarities,

This review is from: Child of the Dawn: A Magical Journey of Awakening (Chopra, Deepak) (Paperback)
This has similarities to the Alchemist. Although not as profound as Coello it is still a delightful story that has meaning. Any book that alludes the reader to a need to search for meaning in their own lives is well worth it. We are all different and need different styles to ignite our own interest in the only journey that can lead to other meaningful journeys and that is the the journey of self-realization and spiritual growth. This it achieves.

thought provoking...,
This review is from: Child of the Dawn: A Magical Journey of Awakening (Chopra, Deepak) (Paperback)
I liked this book. I found it suitable for any religion. At first, I thought it was going to be too "New Age" for me, then I decided I was being too closed minded and relaxed, just took it in. Soon I was gaining in a positive way. I will reread this for a pick me up. Also, I copied several phrases from the book to use as reminders of daily encoragement. I wanted to give it a 5, however couldn't because I am not sure I would feel totally comfortable sharing or gifting this book to just anyone. It does require some basic free thinking and application of one's own faith journey to be successful, I would be afraid some wouldn't get past some of the open ended concepts of the journey...maybe not, maybe I am still too closed minded, read it and find out for yourself, let us know!

I really like this book,
By Aigle (Tennessee) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Child of the Dawn - a Magical Journey of Awakening (Paperback)
This book read to me of the same style - a fable with an uplifting theme - as Paulo Coelho's _The Alchemist._ Also a great book!
It's been a few years since I read Deepak Chopra's son's book, but I really enjoyed the story/fable & its messages, and frequently refer it to friends. When I saw just one other review, and it's less commendable response, I needed to say, "I like this one!"

High Hopes, Big Disappointments,
By A Customer
This review is from: Child of the Dawn: A Magical Journey of Awakening (Chopra, Deepak) (Paperback)
Being an admirer of his father's work, I bought the younger Chopra's book with high expectations. Alas, Guatama Chopra did not inherit his father's gift of prose or profound wisdom. His story was void of originality and failed to capture the reader's interest, since this concept has seen many incarnations. Unfortunately, this is a case of a decendent riding on the mighty coattails of his successful father. Hopefully, with age, maturity, and wisdom, Mr. Chopra would grow into his identity and improve his written and oral communication skills. Having seen his work as an anchor for Channel One News, I have to say that Mr. Chopra has a long journey ahead of him.

Beautiful story told beautifully,
By A Customer
This review is from: Child of the Dawn: A Magical Journey of Awakening (Hardcover)
This book is a great complement to The Seven Spirtual Laws of Success. The laws are learned and applied by Hakim as he journeys to find a wise old man who will teach him the secrets of success and happiness. I don't want to spoil this experience for readers by writing too much here so I'll simply say that it's a beautiful story told beautifully. p.s. The book itself is very handsome. The color of cover, the beautiful artwork on the jacket, and the inviting typeface add to the experience of this book and complement the text.
