4.0 out of 5 stars My eyes are full of stars! September 30, 2011

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Child of Eden is the spiritual successor to the extremely trippy and spacial game Rez. Its an incredibly unique game that feels alternately like a bold artistic statement, a retro-style rail shooter, and a mushroom trip. After a very beautiful CGI/Live-Action intro movie setting up the single-paragraph story, you're dropped into a discombobulating tube of tetrahedrons, worm-like crystalline entities, and pulsing electronic music. Its honestly one of the most visual-and-auditory intense experiences I've ever had off of my TV. Definitely make sure you don't have epilepsy. The gameplay is quite fun, and though the game is a bit short if you blast right through it, I find its one of the most unique and "...whoa." inspiring games in my collection. It supports Move controls which I haven't yet played with, but others have reporting a bit of drift and delay on it. It does seem like it would be a more natural interface for aiming however.

This game is absolutley a trip and there's nothing out there like it. If you're into shooters or music games you will love it. Its from the guys who brought us the legendary game Rez back in the Dreamcast days. The way I played it was with the Move controller on the Type B setting. You point at the screen and either hold the trigger to rapid shoot or hold the Move button to lock-on and shoot multiple targets. It works perfect. I also played it in 3D on a 73" television with 5.1 DTS surround sound. Its simply one of it not the best experience I've had in my 30 years of playing video games.

Warning: If you don't play it in 3D or with the Move then this game might just seem like any other shooter/music game. You might even find Rez to be superior. But play it the way it was intended with Move/3D and you will have one of the best gaming experiences ever.

4.0 out of 5 stars Delightful audio and visuals November 17, 2011

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Yes it basically is REZ 2. We get HD graphics new terrific music and a controller that matches the gameplay perfectly. There are only a few levels and like REZ you can play in free mode. There are lots of unlockables and levels require repeated playthroughs. I couldn't get this game to play at all correctly at first but I put my camera below my TV instead of on top and switched the controls to TYPE B which allow you to lock on with a button instead of flicking, and with these two changes was off and running. This is a beautiful game I can only imagine what it must look like in full crispy 3D but I am addicted to the trigger happy action and music. 720p has never been this gorgeous. For the right gaming mindset this an experience unlike any other and feels great with the MOVE after a few option tweaks, play it loud with surround sound.

4.0 out of 5 stars unique game October 28, 2013
Platform for Display:PlayStation 3|Verified Purchase
This game is a hybrid between an on-rails shooter and a rhythm game. The graphics are excellent both on a technical and artistic level. However, it is the music and the synchronized gameplay is what keeps you coming for more: that is the unique experience! The game only has 5 levels and an extra level. It is really short! And thus, only 4 stars. A lot of repetition is required to Master each level, but one can get through them in 1 or 2 tries. One could "finish" the game in one sitting without really understanding the rhythm gameplay. The second playthrough becomes a bittersweet experience: you "get" the game, but you've seen it all. Overall, it's a likable game, but it would have been awesome with 10+ levels and a smoother learning curve in the rhythm aspect.

5.0 out of 5 stars Looking for something with less 'realistic' violence October 27, 2013
Platform for Display:PlayStation 3|Verified Purchase
I got Journey for my boys a couple of months before picking up child of eden. They love both games. I don't mind cartoon violence, but when my oldest son played two of the 007 games at a friend's house, then came home and asked me which weapon I preferred to use while I was in the Army, I felt that things had gotten a little too dark, realistic, and inappropriate.

Obviously, I was looking for a different style of game for both boys, but I like watching them play this. It reminds me vaguely of Tempest, Quake, and Unreal, but it also is similar to Journey. I just like watching them play, and we all like the soundtrack. Both boys find the Move integration challenging but a lot of fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars 3D and Move demo material July 12, 2014
By Cody K
Platform for Display:PlayStation 3|Verified Purchase
One of the best 3D games available for any console. If you have a 3D TV, the PS3 camera (Eye), and at least one Move controller, this is a must-own; it single-handedly showcases everything that is amazing about 3D games.

I would also recommend headphones, although a good surround sound system will also suffice. The level of immersion is unparalleled, and it requires a bit of a "cool-down" after completion of each level because I felt my heart racing and...well, a euphoric sensation. If you liked REZ, you'll love this, as it is essentially a sequel.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Sounds Great Visuals Great Gameplay January 10, 2012

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Gameplay

Overall is Good (Move Controllers) Works but not as good as i thought, just for hardcore the (dualshock) made a lot more score points that the Move,
but like everything pro and cons, example my family enjoyed more the move version....

Visuals

are amazing wish they were in HD, but still they're excellent(sometimes not as polished... still)

Sound

The best part of the game, raise the volume to the max and make good sound combinations points (Gameplay) and hear an excellent game music..... if you have the opportunity to use around the ear headphones that would be (good) for your game experience.

Final things: I'd say this game is a Gateway Game, family game to enjoy even if is for one player only, and now for a great price.

Review written at 4 hours of gameplay, move controllers and normal controller, Nice LED TV, TV in Sound, Sound Component 4.1, Dynamic Stereo Headphones.
