Wonderful book!,
By dakubees (Minnesota, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Child of Mine (Hardcover)
This is a wonderful book that will touch your heart and make you smile. The author does a great job of portraying all the emotions parents feel not only if they have a challenging child, but also a normal child who's just going through a rough time. The straightforward text and vivid illustrations make it my first choice to read to my children when they're having a bad day. Ms. Hartman's perspective gives us all hope and reminds us of how important it is to let your child know you believe in him/her and celebrate what makes them special. It would make a great gift for any parent!

An Expression of Love,
By
This review is from: Child of Mine (Hardcover)
This book is a great medium for expressing the cares and concerns a parent has for their child. Carrie Hartman has put into words and images that which so many people struggle to say themselves. It's written and illustrated so sweetly and captures that tenderness at the center of our relationships with children. Great book!

A Thought Provoking Book!,
By
This review is from: Child of Mine (Hardcover)
While the author does an excellent job of expressing her emotions in dealing with her child, this book also provokes thought and brings up emotions for someone who is facing the challenges of any loved one. Ms. Hartman inspires one to accept the challenges and look forward with optimism.

Honest to the Core; Touching,
By Holistic Nurse (North Dakota) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Child of Mine (Hardcover)
I recently came across "Child of Mine" and I thought it was more than worthy to pass on. It is really honest to the core about the relationship between a challenging child and the parent. I was really moved by the genuine emotion of the content and how subtley it helps the reader process his/her emotions. I think people who are experiencing this firsthand want honesty, not fluff. In my professional opinion, anyone who works with children and families may want to order in a copy for your school, agency, or support group. If any of you have friends or have a challenging child yourself, this book will probably bring you to tears. Great for families with kids who have ADHD, Autism, or struggle with emotional disorders and pertinent to grandparents, parents, the child, and sibilings alike. P.S. The illustrations are really beautiful too! I give it a 5!
