We chose this hat mainly for the color and the price but we were not confident about the fit. We would have felt less apprehensive if the actual measurements were available. Luckily, it fit our 4-year-old with just a little room for growth (her head is on the large end of the spectrum). Here are the details of the hat we received:

- Material: thick paper/cardboard, visible fibers (some little strands were blue but were not visible from afar), smooth to touch on the top and fibrous on the bottom
- Form: molded/stiff
- Measurements: * inside band = 21 inches *, brim width = 3-1/4 inches, front to back diameter = 14 inches, side to side diameter = approx 11 inches (because the sides are flipped up)
- Lights: three clusters of red, blue and green lights on the points shown in the picture above; lights are very bright and cycle quickly
- Packaging: wrapped in plastic, well padded, arrived intact without any deformities
- Flaw: holes for the string were asymmetric by about 1/2 inch

Overall, the hat is worth the price. Because of its material, it probably would not survive rough play. Would recommend for costume events and everyday dress-up.

I bought this hat as an accessory for a college party. The hat fit very well for a women's small so I would be surprised if this would fit many children. The hat was a huge success at the party and demonstrated surprising durability, with little show of wear & tear even after getting passed around throughout the evening. The LED's are very bright and a bit annoying if left on for long. Even after 3-4 nights of use, the batteries (included) haven't given out.

In short, a really great party item for older kids and adults. Surprisingly high quality of the price.

this hat is kind of flimsy and my daughter doesn't seem to like it as much as i thought she would. it is very cute and acutally lights up. i thought it would fit my 3 year old but it is too big. that is the main reason she doesn't want to wear it. overall it is a good buy for the money but might be better for an older, bigger child.
