From Library Journal
Silverstein, a science teacher for 27 years, theorizes that exploring common child psychic phenomena can lead to a better understanding of God. This book records the spiritual experiences of his eight-year-old students, who were encouraged by their teacher to unleash their imaginations, as part of a daily meditation exercise. Many of the children's visions recall Biblical stories, such as receiving the Holy Spirit and talking with God. Silverstein accuses the adult world of having lost direct spiritual knowledge and criticizes its penchant for admonishing children when children speak of voices or of seeing spirits. He explains that these visions may be produced by the hormone melatonin, but he reaches no firm conclusions regarding what causes the experiences or why they stop.
