I thought this was a great idea for a baby's 1st Christmas ornament, since most out there are so tacky and impersonal. However, I followed the directions included and found that the plaster set so quickly, it was essentially too hard by the time we tried to put my sons hand in it to make an impression. The temperature of the water needed to mix the plaster correctly is important, yet the directions don't specify what temp the water should be! Total bummer!! It's cheap enough I may try to buy another and do it again.

I bought two of these for my child's first Christmas to make and give as gifts. The second ornament turned out beautiful! The first ornament was good but doesn't have as much definition, which is my fault and not the products. The first one was more of a "blobby" impression. This is because the plaster was still too watery, which I didn't realize at the time. With the second ornament, I followed the instructions more closely in terms of trying several times and just tapping the mold to flatten the plaster when it didn't seem good. I ended up doing an impression three times with the second ornament. The third attempt, I thought I had let it set too long because it was pretty solid and when I pushed my babies hand into the plaster it didn't go in very far. I found I could individually apply a little pressure to each finger and area of her hand to push the hand further into the plaster. We ended up with a beautiful ornament detailed to the point of showing the little lines where each segment of the finger bones connect. I also used a toothpick to etch the name, abbreviated month and year. Very classy looking ornament and I think it would make an excellent gift for grandparents! I plan to make a few more as gifts and keep one to pass on when my child has their own tree.

I received one as a gift for my first child and bought the same for my second. Very nice product. Simple to use and reasonably priced.

The ornaments arrived promptly, they were reasonably priced and most importantly my 3 young granddaughters had a lot of fun making the handprints. What a great idea for a gift/activity for pre school kids.

Purchased this for my son's first Christmas. It is a good product and seems to hold up. It does take a few tries to get the print just right so take your time and be patient.

I loved this in theory, but not when trying it with my 7 month old. I bought 3 kits hoping at least 1 would turn out (and ideally I'd have ornaments for grandparents too), but none of them did. The plaster cracked in the first one, the plaster was too runny in the second one, and we pressed the baby's foot down in our last attempt but the mold was too shallow.
The product itself works as promised, just be aware that it's at least a 2 person job to make this happen. The instructions are easy enough to follow. The part that irked me is the directions say that satisfaction is guaranteed - if the molds don't turn out, they'll send you another bag of plaster for $5. Really? I guess they're covering their bases, but I'll just go to a craft store and buy my own if I ever get the crazy notion to try this again.

I bought this kit twice. Once in 2010 and now last Christmas 2014. My daughter has her 1st Christmas hand print and I was determined to have the same for my son. Thanks to Amazon and this seller I have the same kit as I got 4yrs ago! Its a bit tricky to use but I was also doing hand print of a 8month old. Pretty sure no matter what I used it would be difficult. After 8 tries we got a decent handprint. It will live on our tree every year just like his sister's. I love this product and highly recommend it!

Don't buy this. This is a pretty stiff elastic clay and even though I pressed my sons hand into it with enough force to make a good imprint the imprint actually faded as it dried! So you can't even tell there was a handprint Pete except for a couple of the deeper indents of fingers. If I used any more force I would have hurt him. I bought the one that is plaster by a different brand and it worked great. Get that one instead
