4.0 out of 5 stars It works!!
I wasn't really sure if this would hold up. Once I installed it (super easy) I thought the lid could kind of wiggle a little (which actually has more to do with the fact that I have plastic lids and not ceramic or porcelain, but once my little 10 month old came to try it she was quickly irate to find she could not longer open the lid. She typically tries from the side, I...

2.0 out of 5 stars Choking hazard
First off this toilet lock didn't function as I wanted it to. This lock adheres with very strong tape to the top of the toilet lid and then when the lid closes the rotating bar at the back locks into a straight line. This is so that when the lid is lifted that bar hits the water reservoir directly behind it stopping the lid from moving up. However, the locking bar would...

5.0 out of 5 stars Sometimes the simple solution is the best., August 29, 2008

I have tried two other toilet locks, so it is with some experience that I say this is an excellent product. The simple design is very effective and versatile for a variety of toilet configurations and lid shapes. This was my third toilet lock only because the hand drawing and low price threw me off initially. Consider this product first. The only down side is the mechanism being simple may be defeated by older children?

5.0 out of 5 stars Protech toilet seat lock, August 25, 2008
This review is from: ChildProTech #333 Flip Toilet Lid Lock (Misc.)
This is by far the absolute best child lock ever! The feature I like about it the most is that it relocks itself after the toilet seat is put back down unlike the other locks where you have to re lock it yourself after putting the toilet lid down... relocking a toilet lock was not something I could get my 6 year old or my husband to do!!! It is also very easy to install (1 piece) just stick it on the toilet lid and you're done!

4.0 out of 5 stars good lock at good price, December 26, 2009

This has been a great toilet lock, however, we recently moved and after pulling it up, cannot find any adhesive strong enough to keep it secured to the toilet lid. Also it does snap back against the toilet (depending on who is unlocking it!) and you do still have the 'yuck factor' if you have boys.....

1.0 out of 5 stars Does not work on our toilet, September 28, 2009

I followed the instructions to the letter and this device does not lock our toilets. We do not have anything special or out of the ordinary as far as I know. Like another reviewer said, the bar will briefly pause when it hits the back of the toilet but then it slips down. It opens the toilet seat halfway before stopping. Definitely enough room for hands or head to get into. Now to try and remove this thing.....

It took my son about 5 minutes to discover he could rip this lock off and use it as a boat in the toilet. If it would stay attached it would be a great lock.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works well, adults can't even figure it out!, May 18, 2009

Whenever we have guests at the house, someone will always ask how to unlock the toilet. It does require two hands to open the lid with this lock in place. The instructions lead a bit to be desired, and suggest leaving a 1/4" space between the lock and the back of the bowl. I had to put my lock against the bowl for it to be effective.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but could be sturdier, May 4, 2009
This review is from: ChildProTech #333 Flip Toilet Lid Lock (Misc.)
We have three of these locks, one per bathroom. One lost an O-ring that is supposed to keep the moving parts in place and is wobbly. The other two are still great, but we'll need to replace that one.
The device is applied to the toilet lid with an adhesive. I'll update my review in the future to explain if the glue remains on the lid forever or comes away when you remove the device.

2.0 out of 5 stars Choking hazard, March 13, 2009
This review is from: ChildProTech #333 Flip Toilet Lid Lock (Misc.)
However, the locking bar would hit our toilet reservoir and then 'slip' down. The toilet lid was able to raise until the point that the locking bar hit the corner where the toilet seat base and the water reservoir meet. This meant our toilet seat could still raise about 6 inches. Seems like just enough space to get a head stuck to me.

We planned on trying another toilet lock, but in the meantime we have left this lock in place. Since the toilet lock doesn't work (and our baby isn't crawling yet) we have mainly been leaving the toilet seat up and not engaging or placing any wear on the lock most of the time. So after this light use I was very surprised to find that the lock broke after about 2 months and there was a metal donut about the size of a quarter on the floor. Definitely a choking hazard!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Toilet Lock EVER!, March 4, 2009
This review is from: ChildProTech #333 Flip Toilet Lid Lock (Misc.)
After 4, FOUR! toilet locks that didn't do the job, this one is the only one that could. It seems like it is too simple to do what you want it to do, but it couldn't be any better of a product. It installs in a nanosecond, can be easily disengaged by my 6 year old, and you can't beat the price! I think this lock would install just fine on any toilet seat imaginable. I'm telling you, I thought I would never find a toilet lock that didn't come unstuck, or defeated by my toddler. This one is it!
