A "must read" for any bereaved parent...comfort for the soul,
By S. Semmons (Los Angeles,CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Childlight : How Children Reach Out To Their Parents From the Beyond (Paperback)
After the loss of my son, one of the first things I did to survive was to turn to books on the subject of bereavement. I was desperate for words of advice on how to live with the unspeakable pain. I did find many books on the subject and must have read dozens ...and many did help me, but none offered the kind of comfort that "Childlight" has given me."Childlight" is first hand accounts of what mothers have experienced after losing a child...how their children have reached out to communicate with them, to let them know they haven't "really" left them at all. I think the book will help mothers to be aware of the many ways their child may do this, sometimes it is very subtle signs that are given and the grief we feel is so over-powering it may prevent us from "hearing" them. To me the important message was to remain open to all signs, and not be too quick to dismiss something by telling ourselves we are just imagining it. By comparing my own experiences to those of some of the mothers in the books, I am convinced my son has been with me and this gives me great comfort. I reccomend this book to any parent who has lost a child, or if you have a friend or family member who has lost a child...you will find comfort and hopefully some peace too.

Peace and Comfort,
By Mrs. Donald F. Walker (Greenbrier, TN United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Childlight : How Children Reach Out To Their Parents From the Beyond (Paperback)
I lost a son in l999. I felt him very near in the beginning months and had little things happen that I considered "signs" of his love. I sometimes thought I was crazy, until I read this book. Now I KNOW my son was reaching out to let me know he was happy and fine, and that he is always with me. Thank you for this book.

Touching Stories ... With a Message of Hope,
By Curt & Karen Yoder (Trabuco Canyon, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Childlight : How Children Reach Out To Their Parents From the Beyond (Paperback)
This book is sure to touch the hearts of all those who have lost a child or someone very dear to them. Each story shares a heartwarming glimpse of the life and personality of each child ... and then explains the tragic circumstances in which each child was lost. The heartbreak and overwhelming sadness of those who wrote these stories is evident, yet it offers bereaved parents an honest view in understanding how others have struggled to cope with their losing their child. But each story does not end with grief and despair ... each story offers a message of hope. These parents have found true comfort in knowing that their children, although tragically gone from their everyday lives, offer signs that they are okay and still with them. Highly recommended for anyone seeking comfort and understanding in how to try to live with their heartbreaking loss. Karen Yoder, co-author, "The Heart Behind the Hero"
