5.0 out of 5 stars A revolution in understanding and empathy, May 16, 2002
David Belden's Children Of Arable is a powerful, 346-page, highly recommended science fiction epic about an alien civilization, the Collectivity, that has abolished both family and gender - until a rogue young person decides to bring birth back to the world. The evolution and transformation of society brings about a revolution in understanding and empathy in this fascinating saga that makes the reader rethink his or her understanding of gender roles.

This is a truly wonderful book. IT is a wonderful combination of romance and sci-fi. I would recommend it to anyone...not small children though
