This review is from: Children with Cochlear Implants in the Educational Setting (Clinical Competence) (Paperback)
This is an excellent book for teachers of deaf and hard of hearing children. The authors provide a balanced and sensitive account of issues involving cochlear implants addressing the needs of educators. In the first chapters Nevins and Chute provide material regarding acceptance of CI in the Deaf Community. Subsequent chapters explain the history and development of CIs and this is followed by detailed information for teachers regarding CIs in classrooms of children of all ages. I am very pleased that the authors take a practical approach and speak the language of teachers. Too many books are written by individuals who have not had the experience of teaching deaf children.
