5.0 out of 5 stars Faithful & Factual
I consider myself to be a bit of a Fatima expert, but never had I read a book which explained the apparitions in such a simple but resourcful way! This book is a treasure for any Fatima devotee and gives us insights into the lives of the seers that haven't been explored by others. I learned a consideral amount from reading this and it stands as one of my favourite books...

2.0 out of 5 stars Frustrating and confusing
It was more like a personal critique by the author of the Fatima apparitions. Very detailed, very personal analysis of Fatima (there were times I wasn't even sure if the author believed in Fatima). With added various rumors and odd sources included that I had not heard of before in any other Fatima book - which to me did NOT help but only made the book that much more...

It was more like a personal critique by the author of the Fatima apparitions. Very detailed, very personal analysis of Fatima (there were times I wasn't even sure if the author believed in Fatima). With added various rumors and odd sources included that I had not heard of before in any other Fatima book - which to me did NOT help but only made the book that much more confusing and convoluted.
For example the author will go on about something for a couple of pages and then end with `it is confusing, but of no particular importance' - I completely agree.

I really really tried to like this book. But I am sorry I wasted my time reading it, it just wasn't worth it.

My personal recommendations instead:

Our Lady of Fatima

Fatima: A Message More Urgent Than Ever

Blessed Jacinta Marto of Fatima

Venerable Francisco Marto of Fatima

A Woman Clothed with the Sun (Image Book)

Example from this book compared with others on Fatima:

By this author - pg 206:
`For those inclined to discredit the testimony of neighbors or those who considered their own intelligence above the mean level, the leading Lisbon newspaper (O Secula) carried extensive and objective coverage of the event October 15-19, including many photographs. The articles were written by a well-respected journalist, Avelino de Almeida, who, on the day of the October apparition, published an article deriding the superstition that could lead people to what he saw then as an elaborate piece of gimmickry.'

From book - pg 86 `Fatima: A Message More Urgent Than Ever' by Luiz Solimeo:
`Journalist Avelino de Almeida himself, who had previously written satirical articles in the anticlerical newspaper O Seculo, impressed with what he witnessed at Fatima wrote a very faithful report, though without accepting the event's supernatural character.'

From book - pg 48 - `More about Fatima' by Rev. Montes De Oca:
footnote: 'Avelino d'Almeida, director of `O Seculo,' has written that very morning in this newspaper the ironical article mentioned earlier. At noon he witnessed the solar podigy, at Cova da Iria, and that evening, while still under the influence of the morning's events, wrote the new article from which we have quoted some extracts. This article published in `O Seculo' of Monday, October 15th, created a sensation throughout the country, and drew on its author sharp reproaches from Free-thinkers, who did not pardon him for giving such publicity to the events of Fatima, and for supporting them with his authority.'
Pg 48 - part of the quote from his article: `....Before the astonished eyes of this crowd, whose attitude takes us back to Biblical times, and who, pale with fear and with heads bare, look at the azure sky, the sun trembles, the sun makes abrupt movements, never seen before, and outside all cosmic laws, the sun `begins to dance' as the peasants say.....'

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!, June 13, 2010
This review is from: The Children of Fatima: Blessed Francisco & Blessed Jacinta Marto (Paperback)
This book gives us a deeper look into the lives of the Fatima children and provides a few insights which I haven't seen in other related books. I am kind of picky when it comes to books about the Fatima apparitions, but this one is at the top of my list.

God Bless,
R. Bertone

This is an excellent resource regarding the visions at Fatima. I knew little of the children who were involved until reading this book. I have a much greater appreciation for everything that happened now that I have read this story. I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in learning more about Fatima.
