I saw this movie when it originally aired on TV. I absolutely loved it, and I loved the two sequels as well (all three are now on DVD!).

Rue McClanahan is wonderful as are Kristy McNichol and Patrick Duffy. For me though, the standout is Anne Bobby. She is delightful in this part, and I just fell in love with her in this movie.

I am so pleased that it is available on DVD from Freemantle Media. The quality is great for a TV movie, and you can't beat the price either!

CHILDREN OF THE BRIDE (the first installment of the "...Bride" trilogy starring Rue McClanahan, is a gentle and funny comedy, perfect for the entire family.

Middle-aged divorced mother of four Margaret Becker (Rue McClanahan, "The Golden Girls") stuns everyone with her plans to marry John Hix (Patrick Duffy), a man 15 years her junior. The wedding plans get off to a rocky start when Margaret invites her four grown-up children back home...each of them harbours personal problems that threaten Margaret's new-found happiness.

Co-starring Kristy McNichol ("Empty Nest"), CHILDREN OF THE BRIDE was filmed during the height of "Golden Girls"/"Empty Nest" mania. It was later followed by two well-received sequels ("Baby of the Bride" and finally "Mother of the Bride").

The DVD from Direct Source Special Products is nicely-priced; they've also released the other two movies from the series. (Single-sided, single-layer disc).

This is another in the "of the Bride" series. I am a total sap when it comes to quirky family stories and this is a great example. If you like love stories and the late, great Rue McClanahan, you may enjoy this wonderful movie.

The DVD came earlier than expected and no there were scratches just like the seller advertised. I saw this tv movie a long time ago and loved it. If you like this DVD you should get the sequel "Baby of the Bride".

I love the "Bride" trilogy

It's such a shame they didn't extend them to a couple more. Rue McClanahan and Kristy McNicol are great in their roles. Pity they couldn't keep the same people for the parts in all 3 movies but that's neither here nor there. If you want a laugh and to be able to sit and enjoy a movie this is the one for you.
