Evocative Images Framed With Imagination And Perception,
By greenpoet (Worcester, MA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Children Of Paradise (Pitt Poetry Series) (Paperback)
This is a wonderful book of poems that I love reading aloud. The images are real yet one can read their own experience in the stories and reflections that Ms. Rosenberg presents. Though at times some pieces may seem dark, there is an uplifting undercurrent that runs throughout them, a sense of humanity that touches me with its hopefulness amid the challenges of modern life. I particularly enjoy the gentle twists that she employs; they are powerful in driving home her vision but also make me sit back with wonder. I highly recommend this collection.

Just want to note that this is a book of poems, not an anthology. Perhaps the reviewer before me was thinking of one of Rosenberg's anthologies, like The Invisible Ladder or Light Gathering Poems? These books cover every aspect of life--and death--but especially love. I would have to say I think some of these poems are the best, most beautiful poems written in the past decade. I was especially moved by the section of poems about mothers and sons, but what I admire is how outward-reaching this book is.
