About the Author

James H. MacLachlan is a writer living in Toronto. Formerly he was Professor of History at Ryerson Polytechnic University; before that he was Assistant Professor at the Institute for the History and Philosophy of Science and Technology, University of Toronto; and before that was Head of Science at W.A. Porter Collegiate Institute in Toronto. He holds a B.A.Sc. in Engineering Physics from the University of Toronto and a Ph.D. in the History of Science from Harvard University.
