This is a 45 track, 2 disc compilation of Marc Bolan's entire career. If he were alive today, he could fill the post of headmaster at the celluloid School Of Rock. Iconic from head to toe, Bolan's glam image, on-stage theatrics and blistering pop songs helped soundtrack the first half of the 1970's and have inspired many ever since. Rarely less than vital, unlike most of his contemporaries he even harnessed respect from young punks, as the tastes of the decade mutated and his late 70's TV show 'Marc' became essential after school viewing. Children Of The Revolution celebrates the magnificence of the man. Features sleevenotes by former Blow Monkey Dr. Robert, who like Bolan, is no stranger to eye make-up, throwing shapes and the allure of a pink feather boa! Music Club. 2005.

Unusual selections--not greatest hits (no "Bang a Gong," no "Jeepster"), but lots of great riffs. The liner notes are not extensive and don't explain anything about why these songs were chosen, but it's definitely a peculiar mixture of hits and oddities. And I have to say that disc 2 is pretty weak. But disc 1 has been in nonstop rotation in my car for a couple of months now. "Telegram Sam," "Cadillac," "Thunderwing," and "Buick McKane" sound as fresh as if they'd been recorded yesterday. Play 'em loud and marvel at how far ahead of his time Marc Bolan was.
