5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful! Magical!
Unlike the first reviewer who found the sound quality bad enough to rate this one star. I find the music of The Sallyangie to be worth any very minor recording limitations. Unless you are an audiophile, this should not keep you from enjoying some of the most enchanting british folk pop of the 1960s.

1.0 out of 5 stars bad quality sound
The music is excellent, if you enjoy folky dreamy music from the 60's, but the sound quality is appalling in places - sounds like the original tape has disintegrated in parts.

3.0 out of 5 stars NOT FAIRPORT OR PENTANGLE.., September 29, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Children of the Sun (Audio CD)
IF YOUR HERE BECAUSE YOUR A MIKE OLDFELD FAN, OR LIKE MUSIC LIKE 'TUBULAR BELLS', KEEP LOOKING..I BOUGHT THIS ON A RECOMMENDATION FROM A PENTANGLE PURCHASE...NOT EVEN CLOSE. SOME OF THE SONGS ARE WELL CONCEIVED, BUT I FIND SALLY'S VOICE SHRILL AND CONTRIVED..SHE SOUNDS, AND LOOKS, TRAUMATIZED//...MIKE IS PLAYING GUITAR AND IS OBVIOUSLY QUITE YOUNG. HE GETS AN E FOR EFFORT, BUT THIS MATERIAL IS BELOW HIS WATERMARK..FOR FRIENDS AND FAMILY ONLY... BRITMAN..

5.0 out of 5 stars The Sallyangie by Mike and Sally Oldfield, June 29, 2009
This review is from: Children of the Sun (Audio CD)
I first heard this record when I was around 14 years old and really liked it. That was over 30 years ago and I no longer listen to music on a record player so was thrilled when I could buy it at amazon.com on CD.
This CD quality is excellent and I love the very young Mike and Sally Oldfield performing some beautiful and lyrical music. The guitar and flutes and vocals are just beautiful.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent but distracting, October 29, 2008
This review is from: Children of the Sun (Audio CD)
Often cited flower power release features dueting male/female performers often creating contrasting vocal patterns over softly strummed, fairly composed acoustic guitar. Besides somewhat dated production, Sallyangie suffers from overdone singing, particularly with the too-high female pitch which sometimes comes across unintentionally humorous. Despite it's flaws this is still an intriguing piece of late 60's folk that deviates enough from it's standard patterns to stick out.
