THE book on recovering from trauma,
By
This review is from: Children of Trauma: Rediscovering Your Discarded Self (Paperback)
This is the one book you need if you are searching for solutions to problems you have arising from childhood trauma (for example, unexplainable fear, uncontrollable anger and rage, debilitating depression, substance abuse, and so on). Middleton-Moz is insightful and genuinely helpful both in describing the results of childhood trauma in adults and in suggesting strategies for dealing with the underlying issues and healing from the trauma. If you are searching for something along any of these lines, do yourself a favor and buy this book.

necessary read when working with Native Americans,
This review is from: Children of Trauma: Rediscovering Your Discarded Self (Paperback)
I work with Native Americans on Vocational Rehabilitation. This book was an absolute must read for those of us working in reservation communities. Jane Middelton-Moz provides those of us who work in the counseling profession with a unique view of cultural opression. She's a DYNAMIC writer and possibly even a better speaker!

This book will help you heal your childhood self!,
This review is from: Children of Trauma: Rediscovering Your Discarded Self (Paperback)
I have read this book along with other books that I have reviewed about self healing. Middleton-Moz shows that even though people think that most abuse is overt, some of the most damaging situations to us are covert. I have learned a lot from this book and would recommend it to anyone!

This review is from: Children of Trauma: Rediscovering Your Discarded Self (Paperback)
Unfortunately, I was very disappointed to read again and again about accounts of others problems without in depth and practical ways to look at my own past and find resolutions for overcoming issues that were left neglected in my own childhood.
With each story or account of others pasts, I was left more confused, more frustrated and found that the book didn't give any real meat I could use toward Rediscovering my Discarded Self. Needless to say, I'm finished with the book and am still left wanting to know how to heal my past wounds.

This book has been very helpful to me personally. I think it is a good place to start when trying to overcome the scars you carry with you.
