5.0 out of 5 stars Children recognized as wise and helpful teachers, July 27, 2008
This review is from: Day By Day, Children tell their journeys of faith and determination living with a sick sister or brother (Paperback)
This book is incredible. Finally, the siblings of chronically ill children are recognized as wise and helpful teachers. Author Christine Frisbee has listened very closely, and presents a variety of inspirational personal stories. She reveals the depth of understanding and healing that can blossom from family hardship, including her own. There is so much we can learn from the clarity, tenderness and honesty of children. Christine captures those insights like a butterfly, and then releases it to the reader.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read, June 29, 2009

This review is from: Day By Day, Children tell their journeys of faith and determination living with a sick sister or brother (Paperback)
Christine's wonderful book has been very helpful to our Epidermolysis Bullosa families. EB is a rare genetic skin disease that requires intensive daily care. The unaffected siblings are impacted as parents fight for the ill child's survival. Christine focuses on their feelings with sensitivity and grace. Strongly recommend.

Frisbee's book Day By Day is an important contribution to helping all of us understand and the tremendous impact that an illness, whether terminal or chronic, has on siblings. From the voices of the children actually experiencing a sibling's illness, we are able to better cope and ultimately improve care for not only our patients, but their families.

5.0 out of 5 stars Insight, June 24, 2009
This review is from: Day By Day, Children tell their journeys of faith and determination living with a sick sister or brother (Paperback)
I host a radio show on WKCR 89.9 FM NY, and I had the opportunity to interview Christine Frisbee on her eye-opening, insightful book, Day by Day. The book provides a voice for the siblings of children with chronic illnesses. It compiles essays from children around the country that can inspire and educate others who may be coping with the same daily challenges, or who may know a family in this situation. Day by Day is an invaluable contribution to these families; it reminds family members to remain present and aware of each other. With healthy communication, family members can find the support network they need within the home, no matter what the age gap is.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Other Voices, March 28, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Day By Day, Children tell their journeys of faith and determination living with a sick sister or brother (Paperback)
Day by Day is a really wonderful book that gives voice to the siblings of ill or dying children. As the grandmother of a little boy who has gone through a stem cell transplant and who still facies life altering challenges, it was so moving to read a book and to hear these "other voices". It is easy to not listen closely enough to the "healthy" brothers and sisters when the parents, the doctors, the nurses, are all so busy talking about the "sick" child. With this collection of moving and inspiring stories it is as though Christine Frisbee's gently turns down the volume on the dominant voices so that we can the others.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fresh view of the saddening aspect of childhood disease, October 10, 2008
This review is from: Day By Day, Children tell their journeys of faith and determination living with a sick sister or brother (Paperback)
When a child is first exposed to the tragedy of death, it is commonly of a parent or grandparent - not a sibling. "Day by Day: Children Tell Their Journeys of Faith and Determination Living with a Sick Sister or Brother" is a collection of reflections from siblings of terminally ill children. Their diverse perspectives are just as enlightening and inspiring as the views of the afflicted themselves, and includes the author's own observations concerning the families of the tragic children. "Day By Day" is a fresh view of the saddening aspect of childhood disease, highly recommendation for those seeking something to smile for in this cruel world.
