Raise your child to be grateful and fulfilled through being a non-materialistic child

In this materialistic society, how does one go about teaching children to avoid the harmful forces of materialism? This illustrated story will give you the tools to help your children focus less on material things and much more on the important things in life, such as health, family, and friendship.

This inspiring fable tells the story of The Juice of Life, in which the Lion arranges an exciting meeting for all the animals. At this meeting, he presents them with a very interesting life lesson.

  • Why did the Lion arrange the meeting?
  • Does the juice of life taste as good as it smells?
  • What is the Lion planning to say?
  • Will the Lion’s message change the lives of the animals?

One of the toughest places to combat excessive consumerism is with today’s children. Advertisers spend millions of dollars and employ teams of child psychologists to convince our children to constantly want and collect more stuff. Some youth advertisers actually call parents “gatekeepers”, whom they must circumvent to reach the kids. Of course we’re gatekeepers! We’re parents! It’s our job to protect and nurture, to help our children grow into healthy, confident, and caring adults. Fortunately, there are many ways to do this, even in our materialistic culture. One important way is through education.

This well-written and inspiring story will help you to teach your children an important way of thinking with regard to jealousy, greed, and materialism.

The Juice of Life is an entertaining read before bedtime, with the whole family, or as self-reading for older children. Additionally, it is a great resource for teachers and counselors to share with individual students or in a class.

With vibrant, delightful illustrations and easy-to-digest lessons, children will learn of a life that is much happier and richer–in health, family, and friendship!

**** By concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the juice it holds (June 11, 2014) ****
It's a nicely written and illustrated story that youngsters will enjoy, and hopefully it will plant a seed in their mind about appreciating the things that really matter.

*********************   The Invitation (June 8, 2014)*****************
The illustrations by Monty Stikkman, are vivid and colorful and depict all the adventures of the involved animals. Parents/teachers will have a good time reading this book to their children. The lessons to be learned will open up a good discussion of what is important and how wise was the lion. I liked this book particularly for the lessons learned, but also for the story that was told.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very thoughtful story.... June 12, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Mr. Marcus has written another children's story that will help teach your children a lesson in life.
I think there are enough reviews that tell what the story is about, so I will not be redundant.

The book's story, "The Juice of Life" is a lesson on what is most important in life.

Is it the "type" of cup (regular, jeweled...) you drink from, which causes materialism and jealousy, or is it what is "in" the cup (friends, family, love...) that matters.

The book is a very important lesson for children to learn, and the author did a splendid job of sharing his wisdom with others.

Author Assaf Marcus with the fine assistance of Monty Stikkmann, illustrator, have created a very worthwhile book that will delight children while offering some excellent lessons on behavior.

The Lion calls a meeting - The Juice of Life - and invites all the creatures of the jungle to attend. The various animals were all excited as to what the meeting was about but as the Lion kept them waiting they all began to complain and focus on their problems. The lion's assistant brought out all manner of glasses and containers of orange juice and each animal chose a cup, claiming that their choice was the best. Those late arrivals got the left over's but still had plenty of orange juice to share. The Lion arrives and points out that all the fancy cups and glasses were taken first, leaving the simple ones for the latecomers. `While it is only normal for you to want the best for yourselves that is the source of your problems and stress.' The main desire was for the juice, but envy and competition made them go for the fancy containers first. His little meeting taught his jungle friends valuable lessons: `The cups in their lives, like money, clothes and toys or all the material things in life, only hold the important things. "The poorest container might hold the richest wealth.'

In this simple story the lessons are about an important way of thinking with regard to jealousy, greed, and materialism. A very well written, beautifully illustrated children's book! Grady Harp, June 14

As a parent I loved the life lessons that this book had to teach children. I also know that doing so in an enjoyable way is not always easy and that it why I really loved this book. It was not only entertaining but had something more to offer my children. The book provides lessons in regards to jealousy and materialism, showing our children that there is more to life than just stuff.

From my kids they liked the illustrations which were nicely done and colorful. They liked the story and found it fun and enjoyable.

It was a winner all around. I have since found that the author has a few other books out and have picked them up as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book July 5, 2014

I loved that the story had such a meaningful theme and actually taught my child. Materialism is something a lot kids and even adults deal with almost daily. Having a fun cute story to convey a great message was refreshing. Illustrations were simple but we'll done. I have a 3 and 6 year old and this book is perfect for them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Story Leaving You With A Great Message June 25, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I purchased Juice of Life after purchasing the The Peaceful Lion and the Nagging Crow from the same author. I was very happy I did. I read this one with my nephew like I did the other. Juice of Life just like Peaceful Lion gave a great story along with a wonderful moral message. The illustraton was wonderful. I loved seeing my nephews eyes light up as each page turned. This small book teaches such a big lesson in petty jealousy, greediness and materialism. Teaches us to enjoy the life we have not the things in our life. My newphew loved it. I would definitely recommend this book. I know some adults who could learn a little something from this book if you really want to know the truth.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the purchase !! Exceptionally Good One!! June 20, 2014

Once again, I purchased Assaf Marcus's book for my kids. The most interesting of his writing style is that he actually knows how an author should deliver moral messages for the children throughout a story. The way of his storytelling makes this book more attractive to my kids, as well as my nieces. The illustration of each scene is eye soothing for children. The entire story book is full of amazing colourful animal pictures, which my son loves most. After reading this story, my kids have started to realize how precious family, friends, and their love for them!! They also get the lesson of being humble and grateful; jealousy, comparison, & envy with others what they don't have is really bad things. What else parents expect from their children!!This book also contains an indirect message for parents--may you earn huge amount of money, but if you do not spend time with your family, especially children, in the long run you would realize what had missed!! I would highly recommend this book to any parents who love to buy books for kids.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Invitation June 8, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
One day all the animals in the forest received an invitation to meet with the lion, he had a big announcement. All the animals wondered what could this be about? Have you ever had to wait for a big announcement or surprise, and wondered what it was all about? If so, then you realize the excitement that was felt.

The author, Assaf Marcus, has written an inspiring book about good lessons to be learned. What is life all about. The animals all met in the forest at the appointed time and day. What they found were an assortment of cups, some beautiful and big, some ugly and small. And then they smelled the wonderful aroma of oranges and orange juice. The first animals chose the prettiest cups and lined up to receive the orange juice from the lion's assistant. The other animals who arrived later took the left over cups, but there was plenty of orange juice for everyone. Soon, the lion appeared, and when you read this story you will learn what the lion had to say.

More About the Author

"Tell me a fact and I'll learn. Tell me a truth and I'll believe. But tell me a story and it will live in my heart forever."
Native American proverb

Assaf Marcus graduated from the Technion Israel Institute Of Technology with B.Sc. Cum Laude in Computer Engineering.

Throughout his studies, he has been teaching and helping children with math and through his work, he has helped them to discover their inner strength and motivation to continue studying and nurturing success in life.

He loves the challenge of early education, and especially enjoys working with children with learning difficulties. He has found great satisfaction in helping them conquer their fears and overcome the challenges associated with their education.

Assaf Marcus has read hundreds of self improvement books, and been influenced heavily by them. Through self-reflection, he found that his great dream was to share that wisdom, especially with kids.

Assaf left his computer engineering career in order to pursue his dream of becoming an author of children's books. Today, he continues to write these books, with the goal of teaching kids basic skills through his stories. He believes that a good story is an excellent way to communicate ideas to children.

Each and every story is based upon some deep issue, value, or virtue that can potentially make a huge impact on the lives of both children and adults. He has a vast collection of quotes, and usually bases his stories off of quotes he personally finds inspiring.

For example, the first book he published in English on amazon was, "The Peaceful Lion And The Nagging Crow."

The story can be summed up thusly:

"Don't Take Anything Personally. Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won't be the victim of needless suffering."
--- Don Miguel Ruiz.

Dear parents, attend to Assaf's stories carefully, for there will always be a message for you
as well.

Today, Assaf Marcus's stories are delivered to his English readers with great
love. Hopefully you will enjoy and appreciate them.
