Book Description

In this book you'll meet a very stubborn, bored, and uninspired cow. She is steadfast in her determination not to try something new. She is amusingly invited to join one animal after the next in an adventure with them, but sticks to her old habits. It is not until a chicken encourages her to jump over the moon that she decides to change her ways.
All in rhyme, and all with a smile, this story is one to delight every child, and subtly spark the spirit of adventure
within them. It emphasizes the importance of trying something new -- to be adventurous -- in the most whimsical way.
-- Charmingly illustrated in bright and happy colors.
-- Your child will want to read along and encourage the cow to try something new. Great fun!

Those who delight in the books of Dr. Seuss, Sandra Boyton, the Bernsteins, Mo Willems, and Laura Numeroff will love HOW THE COW JUMPED OVER THE MOON. This is a wonderful bedtime story your child will want to read again and again.

2.0 out of 5 stars cute, but... May 18, 2014

Cute story, but a bit too repetitive; my daughter gets bored with it. Would be better if the e-version's pictures could be made larger and matched up with the text better.

4.0 out of 5 stars TRY SOMETHING NEW..... October 20, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Cute story about a cow who is afraid of doing anything new or different. "I'm tired, I'm bored," said the cow, "I chew and chew, I stay in this pasture. That's all I do." As several animals come by, each invites her to try a new activity, but she refuses. Finally a chicken comes by as nighttime approaches. She invites the cow to jump over the moon. Will she finally have the confidence to try? Find out if the cow jumps over the moon.

I like the premise of the book and would have given it five stars if the pictures were a bit larger and the text more concise for the younger readers. Targeted for ages two through eight, I think children ages five through seven will enjoy it most.

5.0 out of 5 stars What an Adorable Little Children's Book July 8, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book is so cute. I have read rhyming kindle books to my kids and there is nothing worse than trying to read rhymes to your kids that have been forced. This book however, flows and rhymes with ease. The text is repetitive and catchy- perfect for young children. It is such a cute story with adorable illustrations that your children will love. What's more is that it sends a wonderful message to kids about trying new things and continuously trying until they get it. Beautiful little story. I highly recommend this book.

The repetition of phrases by the cow adds to the story. The illustrations are wonderful. This book is an excellent educational tool to encourage kids to not give up and try new things. Two thumbs up!

I thought at first it was a continuous repeat until the end. The last few sentences were funny because it put a twist on the original The Cow Jumped Over The Moon.

More About the Author

Biography for Amazon's Author Central

"Bright and happy," "light and whimsical" have been the catch phrases attached to the writing and art of Sally Huss for over 30 years. Sweet images dance across all of Sally's creations, whether in the form of children's books, paintings, wallpaper, ceramics, baby bibs, purses, clothing, or her King Features Syndicated newspaper panel "Happy Musings."

Before graduating from USC with a degree in Fine Art in the 60's, Sally had already become a champion tennis player, having won the Wimbledon and U.S. Junior titles and been a Wimbledon semi-finalist in the Women's Division in both singles and doubles. Carrying both her brushes, pens, plus rackets in her hands, she continued to operate in two arenas. With her husband Marv Huss, former head of Advertising and Promotion for Hallmark Cards, they developed the renowned Aspen Club in Colorado, a luxury health spa and tennis facility. After that, they embarked on building a string of 26 Sally Huss Galleries across the country offering Sally's art, writings, and licensed products.

Through the galleries, Sally's creations have found their way into millions of offices, hotels, and homes, including those of Clint Eastwood, Kirk Douglas, Joel Gray, Bill and Hillary Clinton, and Mitt Romney.

Presently the Husses reside on an art ranch in Fallbrook, California, where Sally indulges herself in her life-long passion of writing and illustrating her own books. The majority of these books are for children, while others touch on her expertise as a tennis champion, and still others reveal her positive philosophy of life. Her creations are still "bright and happy, "light and whimsical" after all these years!
