Book Description

May 9, 2005
Children's Hospital Boston is one of the oldest, most distinguished pediatric medical centers in the world. It grew from a modest beginning in 1869, in a single Boston brick house, to become a major pediatric affiliate of Harvard Medical School. For well over a century, this hospital has been a pioneer in providing healthcare for children, performing research in childhood and adult diseases, and training future leaders in medicine and surgery. Children's Hospital Boston presents a visual tour of the history and development of this institution. Simultaneously, this book reflects the history of pediatrics in America.

This review is from: Children's Hospital Boston (MA) (Images of America) (Paperback)
Based on the archive holdings of the hospital, Children's Hospital Boston, one of the oldest pediatric medical centers in the world with roots beginning in 1869, receives a fine visual tour as well as discussions of pediatrics history in America as a whole - an angle which will make Children's Hospital Boston a recommended pick for health history holdings beyond the Boston region. Numerous co-editors affiliated with the Archives Program have worked to make this an outstanding medical history.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the Price, November 25, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Children's Hospital Boston (MA) (Images of America) (Paperback)
If you're seeking a visual history of Children's Hospital Boston, this is what you're looking for. Many, many priceless pictures from the hospital's evolution, interspersed with very informative essays. I bought a used copy, but would have had no qualms buying "new" if nothing else were available. Perhaps it is my personal connection creating bias, but this book was worth every penny.
