As a librarian I see lots of Encyclopedias. I was very impressed with this one in particular because it is full of color photos, and children always like pictures with their text. I ordered three copies for my library which have become so popular that I plan to order two more to keep up with the demand. My next goal is to try to get one into each of the seven classrooms in my school!

I bought this with idea of giving it to a 5 year old. Upon arrival, it seemed much too advanced. You have 4 to 8 years. I checked the DK website and they indicated age 8+. The book is great and will go to an older child. This book is so well put together that an adult would benefit by having it for a reference.

So many questions were hard to answer when my 2 1/2 year old son started asking me (why do crickets make that noise? etc.) so, I bought this as a reference. Now, we read a section every night and he has so much knowledge from this book. It is very easy to read and has many detailed and colorful pictures (even boring subjects hold your interest!). My son, who is now 3 1/2 tells everyone how the noise is made by crickets rubbing their legs together. I've even learned a few things myself.

We got this book because our oldest daughter is always asking questions and we wanted to have a way for her to get accurate information by herself. It is still a bit beyond her reading level (she's five), but so far we have found it to be a great source of information. We even sat around with a group of adults and asked each other trivia questions out of it. The illustrations are excellent and the information all seems accurate to us, at least so far. We will enjoy this book for many years and through many children.

We really like the many colorful pictures and easy to read format. This is not an in depth encyclopedia, and it does not claim to be, as it only has selective headings, but it IS perfect for children just getting the hang of researching. A good supplement to our homeschooling curriculum.

Like the pictures and coverage but was not happy with the authenticity of the information.

I bought this for my son on his 3rd birthday. He is very interested in books even though he can't read yet. I had to buy him 3 or 4 books a month to keep him occupied. My son loves this book. He loves the pictures and somebody has to read him articles from this book every night before bedtime. This book will keep him satisfied for several years because there are so many articles. We have to translate the articles to Sinhala because his English is not that good yet. But it's worth the effort since his knowledge is improving fast. I think buying him this book is the best thing I've done for him so far. I've found some mistakes in certain articles. But they are minor errors.

I bought this book for my son. Suprisely I found a lot of interesting and useful topics for me and my husband. We can't help reading it for a whole night when the book just arrived. For this price, we got much more than we expected.
