This book gave me the characteristics of different genres of children's literature that made it easy to classify books for younger readers. It was not written in the dry, boring method that most text books are written either. I enjoyed reading it even though it was for a class.

I think this book, Children's Literature: Engaging Teachers and Children in Good Books, is easy to understand and follow. There are great pictures and examples of many children's books within it, to make their points.

As far as textbooks go, this one isn't too bad. There is some humor in it. It's extremely infomative for Children's Lit. I'm a grad student studying Library Science. I wish this book were around when I took Children's Lit.
