5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Toddler's Medicine, August 24, 2006

Children dislike taking medicine. For years parents have tried to give medicine with sugar, Kool-Aid, soda, candy or any number of other methods of disguising the taste of the medicine. Tylenol does all those alternatives one better by creating a candy-like alternative of Tylenol. Tylenol Meltaways literally melt in a child's mouth, requiring no spoon and no liquid. The flavor is agreeable and the medicine is mild.

This dosage is generally for children ages 2-6. There are other Tylenol versions available for older children. Tylenol is effective for some aches and pains due to a cold, flu, sore throat, headache and toothache. Tylenol also can temporarily reduce fever. As with any medicine, if the condition persists or gets worse, you should consult a doctor.

Tylenol Meltaways are dosed for children ages 2-6. However, some adults that sometimes have difficulty with some medications may find the low dose and form of the Meltaways helpful. Of course, adults with acetaminophen intolerance should avoid taking any dose of acetaminophen, or should consult their doctor for more information.

Tylenol has been a leading brand of pain reliever since 1955. Though there are generic versions of Tylenol available, Tylenol continues to stay one step ahead of the market by developing creative forms of the medicine. Tylenol Meltaways is one of the most recent developments of Tylenol. Meltaways come in a variety of flavors, including bubblegum burst, wacky punch and watermelon.

Some critics have argued that making medicine like candy establishes a bad habit. However, my experience has been that when your child is in pain or has a fever, you will take any reasonable step to get medicine into the child. If my child will eat a Tylenol Meltaway, and the Meltaway makes my child feel better, then I will use it. I have also noticed that most children eventually choose adult medicine to distance themselves from babies and small children, so while the confusion between candy and medicine may be an issue for a few children, I think most children grow into adult medicine readily.

When your child has a fever or other minor aches and pains, Tylenol Meltaways are a wonderful way of getting your child to take the medicine that will help treat those conditions.
