4.0 out of 5 stars A good option for checking your carseat

I bought this for a recent family vacation to LA, and this was a godsend. The car seat we use is very large (Britax-Marathon), and I was skeptical that I could find something to fit it. What I wanted to avoid, was the plastic bag solution - which always left my seat looking like it took a beating.

This cover did the trick - and performed well when using it to check my car seat. Here are some pro's and con's.

Pros:

- Will fit most large car seats (smaller ones too!)
- Makes traveling with a large seat easier as you can wheel the seat around rather than carry it.
- Protects seat from scuffs and damage while flying.
- Usually has enough room to throw a few extra things in with the seat.

Cons:

- Does not really wheel like luggage, and sometimes will feel like you are just dragging it along.
- The material seems fairly thin - I don't know how many trips this will hold up.

Even with the cons - I am happy with this purchase. It did what I wanted it to - and made my trip a little easier.

My Britax Blvd car seat fit so easily inside the bag, I was so excited to finally have found a bag with wheels that was not a struggle to put the car seat into. The very first, and only time, I used the bag the entire metal bottom part fell off from the bag when I handed it over to be check as luggage. I would not have believed it, if I had not seen it literally fall apart before my very eyes. The only other things I had inside the bag with the car seat were our coats, so weight was not the issue.

This was the biggest waste of money I have ever spent on a car seat bag. Maybe the bag I got was just defective, I don't know. Once I got to my finally destination, I had to drag the carseat bag across the floor with my suitcase and it ruined the bottom of the bag further, as the metal bars with wheels were no longer there.

4.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't have traveled without it, August 18, 2006

As an expat living in Malaysia, I'm constantly traveling back and forth from Asia to the US with my 2-year-old daughter. Typically, my husband flies out with us and lugging the car seat isn't too much of a problem. However, he has to return earlier for work and I'm typically on my own during the way back.

I didn't know how I was going to manage carrying the car seat (and my daughter DEFINITELY travels better when we have the seat) so I purchased this carrier. It's big enough to fit the Britex Roundabout and my carry on bag (which I put on the car seat, inside the carrier). I was able to pull the carrier with my bag inside while pushing the stroller.

I would have rated it a '5' however, the durability was a bit questionable as one of the bars that supports the bottom of the carrier 'popped' out while I was pulling the bag. This is probably because you're not suppose to put anything in it except for the car seat, so perhaps I overloaded it? I was able to fix it so all was not lost.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great bag!, September 15, 2009
This review is from: JL Childress Wheelie Car Seat Travel Bag, Black (Baby Product)
I was worried about the quality of this bag after reading some other reviews, but ordered it anyway and I am so glad I did. I used it for my 4 yr old daughter's Graco Nautilus car seat, which is a pretty big seat and is for children up to 65 lbs. It worked great.

I said I was not going to put anything heavy in with it, but I broke down and ended up stuffing several carry on bags and purses in there too until I checked the seat and it still held up, no problem. The airport even let me check it with a few things in there besides the seat...a rug for her grandma.

It was SO easy to get the seat in and out of which really surprised me. I almost had to lower the head support on the car seat to make it fit length wise, but I didn't have to. Make sure the seat is sitting in the center of the bag and secure the seat with the straps attached inside the bag and you shouldn't have trouble with it tipping over.

As with any luggage with wheels, this thing will take 50 pounds off your seat instantly when rolled, not carried of course! I highly recommend it for airport traveling.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Traveling, June 23, 2006
Took this with us to Alaska. It worked great at the airport...very easy to wheel around lots of people. The baggage handlers loved the strap to hold onto. We also loaded it on and off the train and the carseat has never been damaged. The carrier is made of a strong material and it is easy to clean off.

If you travel with a toddler this is a great item to have. We had one of the "cheaper" ones before and you get what you pay for. The cheaper one didn't last through the first leg of our trip! This one is very heavy duty and well made.

We have the Britax Marathon (Greatest seat ever) and this is our second carrier... the seat fits into the bag very easily. It hooks up to our suitcase and is ready to be pulled. We strongly recommend this seat!

4.0 out of 5 stars awesome for traveling families, April 18, 2008
This review is from: JL Childress Wheelie Car Seat Travel Bag, Black (Baby Product)
I definitely recommend getting a bag like this for your car seat. It isn't perfect (it doesn't roll as smoothly as you're used to from rolling suitcases) but it is SO much better than dragging a car seat through the airport. My Britax Roundabout fits perfectly with tons of extra space (great for stashing a whole family's winter coats). We flew to Florida and our gate-checked items sat outside in a rainstorm for at least 20 minutes and the car seat was perfectly dry when we got it out of hte bag. Definitely a must-have!

1.0 out of 5 stars junk, April 10, 2007
This carrier didn't survive one airline trip. The bag was ripped and the wheels torn off upon our 1st trip. This carrier is junk. Waste of my money.

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible, March 19, 2007
I used this bag once when traveling and then the zipper completely fell off because it was improperly made, then I got a new bag (customer service was very nice and helpful) and it has a huge rip in the bottom after only traveling with it once and gate checking it (my stroller wasn't damaged), so I have concluded that it is horribly made and a waste of money, still waiting on a refund.
