Chile Road Map "Rutas de Chile"

I guess if you don't speak Spanish, you wouldn't know that Rutas are routes and therefore wouldn't have anything to do with a tourists' city guide. So the previous person's complaint about this map was more their misunderstanding than a problem with the map.

We spent two weeks in Chile, mostly in Santiago, but took a three-day trip south to the Cholchagua Valley (wine country) and then over to Cajon del Maipo. The map was useful for the main routes, but there are a lot of smaller streets that you need to know when cutting across the valley that are not on the map. Fortunately, they were included in some of the books we had. So if you're planning on staying on the main routes, than this map would be very useful. If you're looking for more detailed routes you might want to back it up with a trip to Google Maps before you leave.

This was a "FANTASTICO" road map. We rented a car and couldn't have gotten along without it. Many of the smaller routes were on the map and it was very easy to follow. We traveled in the country for 10 days and it was an excellent resource. My husband and I know very little Spanish but the map certainly helped get us where we needed to be. I would have given it a 5 star if it had been printed on better paper. By the end of the 10 day period it was coming apart from the folding and unfolding and because Chile is such a long narrow country we had to fold it a lot. Next time we will try and find a plasticized map.
