i like this for some things but not for what i got it for
I work in a no air conditioning building making fruit trays and cups the room i work in dose have large fans but still in the summer there are days that are 90 100 easy. I hate being hot really hate being hot. have said that i spend a lot of time trying not to be hot. This dose work it is colder than the out side temp see pics. But it dose have a few down sides for me

1 it is large bigger than a hand towel great if your a guy with a big neck and/or not wearing a hat. Im a small women with long hair and must where a hat at work with my hair in a bun (hair in food bad) very little neck exposed it dose cool a bit thru my shirt
2 it is very much "there" great for a quick cool but costumer and cow-worker think its unsightly and i was told it goes against dress code even when im working in back (plus side it dose not drip)

so for work it dose not work
i have used it for out door work and it work nice
let my dad use it he is a big bald guy and it was just the right size
also took with me to the fair left it in a baggie in my lunch bag and both me and my child found relief when we were stuck in a large crowd

I have three products with me to test:
Ergodyne Chill-Its,
Frogg Toggs Chilly Pad
Your Generic Paper Towels (Control)

Examination:
I tested all three with different parts of my neck. Paper Towels are okay, they still feel cool, since water absorbs heat like crazy. This is the control. However, after using Ergodyne and Frogg Toggs, I noticed that they were significantly cooler, since they stayed cool, where as Your Generic Paper Towels will stop being cool after a few minutes.
Anyways, Ergodyne when opened, smelt like gasoline, corn oil, or diesel. Fairly off-putting, I had to use soap and water to clean it. As of right now, (15 minutes later) the Ergodyne is less cool than my Frogg Toggs, suggesting that they evaporate water much quicker than Frogg Toggs.
In any case, when I opened the Frogg Toggs, it smelt as if someone wiped their...A** with it. Quite like if you had the mixture of manure and some sort of sour or expired milk. This was the most off-putting of smells. I still smell it faintly, even though it was washed with soap and water.
And Paper Towels? I don't think I need to evaluate them, since everyone can test with a paper towel.

Findings: All seem to be cool to the touch, but some are a bit cooler than others. Why? I assume that Frogg Toggs absorb and retain the most water, making them the most "cool".
#3: Paper Towels: Paper Towels are cool, but don't match up to the other two.
#2: Ergodyne: Not as effective as Frogg Toggs, but if you're hot you probably won't know/care about the difference.
#1: Frogg Toggs: The most effective, but Ergodyne's is a close second.
In short, this Ergodyne towel is nice and it works, but for ten dollars, I feel that I could just use some regular ol' towel for a much cheaper price.

I purchased the Chill-Its cooling towel to take on a trip to Honduras. It was somewhat cooler but I tried the Frog Togs towel and it was VERY cold! Wish I would have spent the extra money and gone with the name brand.

I wish I had known about this years ago. I like that it holds the water in for a long time but is not heavy. It does a very good job at keeping you cool.

I live in the wonderful, but very hot and humid, South and I need anything I can find that will help me beat the heat when I golf. The Chill-its worked so well I bought another one for my wife. And another for my daughter the hiker/cyclist/climber. Oh, and three more I'm giving to golfing buddies for Christmas. They really do work.

What an amazing thing! This "scarf" actually gets COLD from simple evaporation, and is perfect to keep handy at work for hot flashes! It instantly cools me, and has been a godsend. I'm ordering a second one so that I have one at home and one in my office at all times. LOVE IT! It stays cool until it dries out, which takes a few hours, and it would probably last even longer in a more humid climate (I'm in the Arizona desert). A simple resoaking and wringing out is all it takes to "recharge" it instantly. I'm so glad I found this and recommend it to any woman experiencing "power surges." :)

What a life saver. My apartment is on the top floor and is not air conditioned. We've been having humid, 100+ degree weather, and I would not survive without this towel. Yes, it's refreshing if you drape it on your neck or arm, but if you want your body temperature to plummet, here's what you do. Pour some cold water on it (refridgerated water, if you have it). *Barely* wring it out. This towel can be saturated and it still won't drip. Now drape the towel across your lap, or lay it on your chest/stomach. Better yet, lie down on it. You will be cold immediately. In fact, it might even be too cold for you! It works best when it's flat on your skin, which is why it's more effective to lay it on your torso or legs than it is to just drape it over your neck with a shirt on.

Now, it's true that this is basically a glorified synthetic chamois, like you'd use to dry your car. It's a tiny bit thicker, but not by much. If you want to spend only $5 instead of $10, go down to your local auto store and see if they have one in the car cleaner section. You'll know it's the right material if it comes rolled up in a tube and packaged in its own plastic wrap. It's called "PVA" material.

In any case, buy this, or something like it. Chill-Its, Frogg Toggs, or a generic PVA chamois, you will find instant relief. I bought mine for $13 in the store, and I have zero regrets. I would recommend this in a heartbeat.
