5.0 out of 5 stars This should be on CD!!!, July 7, 2008

I remember getting this on a LP in 1969, Great sound effects! Especially the cat fight, and the Ghost that was taken from the Lonesome Ghost Cartoon. BUT, Disney needs to put this out on CD!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best LP's ever made..., May 22, 2008
This review is from: Chilling, Thrilling Sound of The Haunted House (Vinyl)
I remember listening to this over and over and over when I was a kid. I've always been a huge Halloween buff, and this record is one of the reasons for that. The first track on side one entitled "The Haunted House" is amazing. The rest of the tracks are so fun to listen to. One of them may seem slightly inappropriate, considering how everyone is so PC these days. It is entitled "Chinese Water Torture". You can only imagine. Anyways, it is a must for those of us who collect LP's, and it is a Halloween tradition, atleast for myself, to listen to this thing at least fifty times every October. I love it!

4.0 out of 5 stars A recognizable classic, July 15, 2009
By
This review is from: Chilling, Thrilling Sound of The Haunted House (Vinyl)
This vinyl album came out way back in 1964. I grew up listening to this album. I believe my family had the second release of this album, which came out in 1973 and is identical to the 1964 album, just with different packaging. This album has actually stood the test of time. It's a classic recording that should be recognizable to most people. The first side of the record is narrated by Laura Olsher and contains such classic tracks as The Haunted House, The Very Long Fuse, Timber, and The Unsafe Bridge. The second side is a collection of sound effects, some of which appear on the first side, but without narration.

If you can get your hands on a copy of this vinyl album it would be worth it. I burned my vinyl album to CD. This 1964 album isn't as good as the completely different 1979 album, in my opinion. The 1979 album has no narration whatsoever and some really scary "scenes" and sound effects. But the 1964 album is a classic album that paved the way for the 1979 album and the avalanche of Halloween sound effect albums/cassettes/CDs that have been released over the last several decades. In my opinion, this 1964 album is better than a lot of the sound effect albums that have come out in the decades since. If you want a classic recording, get this one.

However, I recommend the 1979 version if you want to elevate the scare level.
