Truly The Greatest Hits of The Greatest Hits!!!,
This review is from: Chilliwack - Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
This freakin' cd is awesome from beginning to the very end making you want to put it on instant repeat
for another spin or two. Not many times do us the consumers get a collection of greatest hits whereas everyone of them truly is a gem. Kuddos to the record company who got it right, what the consumer really wants...THE BEST! This band is a rockin band with no room for error. Much like Rush, April Wine and Harliquin, these guys hold their own and keep it original all the way.Its fully remastered in remarkable sound, again kuddos. From the composing to the high quality tunes makes this band a excellent collection for any rock fan, ecspecially Canadian Rock. I Highly Recommended it and do yourself a favor... ...crank it up when you receive it...

Canadian Rock !,
By Thinker (West Coast) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Chilliwack - Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
I bought this CD for the classic tunes, which are in fact the last 7 or so from Arms of Mary to Raino, one of their earliest hits.Chilliwack is a great example of Canadian rock, particularly west coast rock and they paved the way for other stars like Trooper, Prism, Loverboy and Bryan Adams. All great stuff, some new some older - all good.

WORTH HAVING FOR THE FIRST FIVE TRACKS,

Kerry Doyle's in-depth liner notes provide a chronology of Chilliwack's origins that explains the variance in style evidenced on this greatest hits collection.
Some songs are 60s or 70s straight ahead rockers while others are techno-tinged 80s. I find the Canadian band's more recent tracks to be their best. They're melodic, smartly arranged and have great vocals/harmonies. The first five tracks are the strongest, with two of them really outstanding. MY GIRL (GONE, GONE, GONE) is their only US hit, and it's a good one. With its haunting chant countermelody, MY GIRL is extremely infectious and well crafted. I BELIEVE is simply a gorgeous melody, a superb example of great songwriting. It deserved much more attention than it received. DON'T STOP, getting BETTER and WATCHA GONNA DO are the CD's other highlights. Of their earlier work, BABY BLUE and FLY AT NIGHT are the most listenable. RAINO is a strange tune that seems out of place on this collection. CHILLIWACK isn't a driving force of 80s rock but their talent is evident and the CD would fit nicely in an 80s enthusiast's library.
