4.0 out of 5 stars Much improvement from the first compilation
I'm not going to hide my disdain for last year's horrid compilation that Nettwerk Records released. The material was tepid and was just following the trend. Now I was a little reluctant to buy "Chillout 2002" because I was afraid the songs chosen would once again prove to me that Nettwerk is just jumping on the bandwagon. Well some of the songs on this album are found on...

3.0 out of 5 stars great compilation
this is a pretty good compilation, as it branches out from the usual morcheeba or massive attack chillout and goes to bands like radiohead and cold play. but ultra chilled is alot better i think. it has 2 discs of great songs and costs alot less. the songs on this one are pretty good too; teardrop by massive attack sounds great, but the remix is even better. . but some...

Well some of the songs on this album are found on 90% of any chillout compilation, not to mention that I also already own. Granted I am rather tired of seeing Dido's "Here With Me" (Chillin' With the Family Mix) on every compilation I find, Zero 7's "Destiny", Bent's "Swollen" (actually I'm not so tired of the Bent song as I am with the other three I've listed), and Delerium's "Silence" (thankfully no the DJ Tiesto remix) but surprisingly enough the album overall proved to be a great improvement. I thought it was a great idea to throw in Radiohead's "Street Spirit" (which I haven't heard before), and remixes of songs by Sarah McLachlan, Mandalay, BT, and Massive Attack. I love Ivy's "Edge of the Ocean" (Duotone Mix) which can also be found on the "Roswell" soundtrack. I can never tire of the Dusted remix to Sarah McLachlan's "Angel". The remix gets rid of the drippiness of the original version oozes out. It was nice to see that the DJ Tiesto remix of Delerium's "Silence" was not used for this album 'cause it is soooo tiresome and predictable. Still the song itself is tiresome and have been overplayed to death. Now while there were slight flaws in this album, I definitely think it is a great improvement from the first volume.

4.5 Stars... This CD is very good, and much better than the below average 2001! I recommend the entire series, expept for the original 2001 (the 2001 isn't that good). 2002, 2003, '04, and '05 are outstanding. I own all the discs from 2001 thru 05. If they can keep this up, I'll look forward to purchasing another CD ASAP!

This is a GREAT compilation.
I LOVE every track of the cd except tracks 4 and 13 which I just
LIKE.
BEAUTIFUL downtempo music, and it is very nicely sequenced: no "false notes".
If you share my taste, then you should also get ULTRA CHILLED 01.

Chillout 2002 has all of my favorites!!!
Radiohead, Coldplay, Sarah McLachlan, Ivy. It's the best for when you've had the worst day! Total relaxation with a definite groove.
It's awesome road trip music too!

4.0 out of 5 stars Ace for the casual electronic fan, or chillout beginners, November 5, 2002
This review is from: Chillout 2002 The Ultimate Chillout (Audio CD)
Right, no surprises here, just a big ol' chunk of big names and some exclusive remixes by the chillout regulars currently cashing in. All calculated for maximum appeal, of course. Brit bird Dido has her brother offer up some strings and trip-hop with "Here With Me," and it's actually quite lovely, grandiose even - matched by Coldplay's "Trouble." FC Kahuna look beyond their electro-disco tastes for "Hayling," a beeping electronic waterfall backed by that GusGus gal Sia Furler. And whatta you know, Zero 7, Bent, and Delirium all show up again.

Now, too bad about whiny Radiohead, buy your moody pals probably like that stuff, and the Dusted mix of McLachlan's "Angel" just adds unnecessary beats. So how good is Chillout 2002? Pretty ace as a gift or for the casual electronic music fan, but dance aficionados should be aware the new remixes alone (barring "Intensify") don't warrant a cash layout if you have most the other tunes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of the chillouts, September 11, 2006
This review is from: Chillout 2002 The Ultimate Chillout (Audio CD)
Don't waste your money on other chillouts. This is THE ONE to get: Hayling, Destiny, Edge of the Ocean, Teardrop, Street Spirit, Swollen, and others that you may or may not like... All things considered, there is no better chillout album than this.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sexy !!!, August 23, 2002
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Chillout 2002 The Ultimate Chillout (Audio CD)
This is the sultriest compilation I had ever owned, this is not to chill, exactly, this is to spend a special night with your loved one,I like the fact that most of the songs have a beggining and an ending and aren't seamed one to another, that makes it easier if you like to make your own compilations, also I like the alternative versions of many very common "chill" songs like "Teardrop".
The only reason I gave it only four stars is because I'm kinda tired of compilations that have "Here with me","Destiny" and "Swollen",don't get me wrong,I thing they are beautiful songs, but with all the music out there, one would think that they would stop including these songs in every compilation!!!.
All in all,a very enjoyable CD.

This review is from: Chillout 2002 The Ultimate Chillout (Audio CD)
I buy all types of electronic music CDs and this has been my best purchase this year. Chillout 2002 explores the entire Chillout scene from classic tracks to today's hits from bands like Radiohead and Coldplay. My Mom even likes this disc!
